Tomorrow Alex Cavanaugh, author of CassaStar, will guest here and give us his view of finding your voice. When I first set my mind to becoming a serious writer, I attended a terrific writing conference at Penn State University and joined a local chapter of RWA. At both these places, people talked about finding your 'voice.' I had not one clue what they were talking of and being the shy newbie I was, I didn't ask.
I researched and even then didn't quite understand it until long after I finished my first manuscript. There weren't anywhere near the online resources at the beginning of my career as there are today. A writer like Alex Cavanaugh is one of those resources. Stop by tomorrow and take advantage of what he can teach you, free of charge.
Whoo! Looking forward to hearing about it. The whole 'finding your voice' thing is a little confusing to me, so I look forward to Alex's take on it :)
ReplyDeletePenn State had a writer's conference? Do they have one every year?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your guest tomorrow.
Hope you're healing well too. At least you don't have to shovel. :)
'Voice' has always been difficult to define. Looking forward to tomorrow's post
ReplyDeleteYes, Alex is a resource for sure and great blogging buddy! I wish KY had conferences I could afford. "Voice," I had trouble with that one too :)

Oh crap! Pressure's on for tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for putting the pressure on Alex. I know you won't be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteCate, PSU, had a terrific conference at their conference center hotel about ten year ago. It was terrific with lots of agents and big name editors from NYC. It was my first one and I learned so much.
This is great. I'm pleasd to see you at my blog today reading about Alex's publication story.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow.
Denise :)
