Thank you, Tim Brannan, for giving me a topic for Halloween with this idea for the Monstrous Monday Blog Fest. The purpose is to name your favorite monster. My least favorite real monster is this monster storm predicted for the east coast for the next few days. But I think Tim meant fantasy monsters not weather beasts.
I wasn't sure what to select for this with so many things to pick from. The Chupacabra is a mythical creature that has its origins in the Americas. What makes this creature especially creepy is the occasional sightings and photos that might or might not be faked. The Chupacabra is usually described as a flying creature that drinks the blood of its victims, earning it the nickname of 'goat sucker.' Size varies to rodent-sized(and who doesn't hate a rat) to something bigger than a man. It certainly seems like a demon on earth, doesn't it?
So what monster is your favorite? Ever use one in your writing? Still check under your bed? Visit The Other Side, Tim's blog, for a list of lots more bloggers having fun with Monstrous Monday. I can wait to learn about some new creatures and may learn new facts about others.

The storm looks pretty bad. I never heard of the chupacabra as a kid - my children are terrified of them.
Nice choice! I've always liked chupacabra monsters. My bed is a platform bed, and I had a Captain's bed growing up, so I never had to worry about something being under it. Now the closet, that's another story!
Such an odd creature. You have to wonder the origins of its story.
That is one scary monster! Personally, I try my best not to think about scary monsters...
wow he is kinda a great one!!
Yep, I still check under my bed... and in my closet... and to make sure all doors are locked. Don't want one of those chupacabra's getting in ;)
That's the first picture I've seen that makes the chupacabra really frightening.
There was a movie on Sci Fi, on a boat? Couldn't sit through it but I swear they called that thing a chupacabra.
Nice choice!
That's a good choice of monster. I've always been interested in cryptozoology, so this is exactly my type of monster. The monster I picked for my bloghop post is a classic video game boss with evil, psycho, monstrous powers.
Someone is always finding what they think is a carcass of one of these creatures.
I've never heard of this creature! He is a strange-looking monster... especially those protruding fangs. *shudders*
The Chupacabra is one ugly, creepy, dude. I definitely would not want to run into him.
I'm a big fan of the classics - gotta love the Chupacabre. Excellent choice.
Gotta love Chuppa!
Every halloween I see a Chupacabra post, so I am very, very happy you did this.
Thanks so much for participating!
that guys looks scarey! not something I like to wander across
I'm so glad so many of you found time to stop by today with Sandy looming over so many of us. Having fun finding more monsters.
That is one creepy photo. Great monster choice :)
I just hope this chupacabra stays away from North America! Don't find your way here.
Ooh, I never heard of these as a kid but have added them to the list of scary, creepy monsters as an adult! He is a scary one! I used to run and jump onto the bed to avoid the monsters under there. If I think about it they still freak me out, but if I "go there" I have to turn on the light and look before I go to bed or my imagination runs wild!
Psssst. You. Yeah, you. Pssst. Don't tell our Mexican neighbors that Chupacabras are not real. They'll slash you with a switchblade and skin you alive after draining your blood.
Thanks for stopping by my page.
Cheers.
The Chupacabra is one of the strangest monsters I've read about, with the exception of the Jersey Devil. Creepy little dude.

Oo, I've seen videos of a suspected chupacabra, very creepy! Good choice.
For some odd reason I always think the chupacabra looks like a rabid, evil chihuahua dog. :) Great choice of monster!
That's a creepy picture. The Chupacabra definitely sounds like a monster you wouldn't want to run into!
Chupacabra is a great monster myth! Every little once in awhile there is another news story on it. What better monster than one that people still believe is real and have sightings of?

I've never heard of this creature, but it sure is freaky. Nice choice!
My fave monster will always be the werewolf. Hope you had an excellent Halloween.
