So Little Time

Am I the only person who feels like I never get caught up. I look ahead and think I'm going to have a day with no demands on me but when the day arrives a dozen different things either demand or want my attention.

This long weekend for those of us in the states would appear to be a good time for some relaxing activities. But a whole lot of things are quickly filling the schedule. My daughter's nineteenth birthday is on Saturday. We're shopping for the two meager gifts she requested, going to see Star Trek together and then meeting the rest of the family for wings at our favorite casual restaurant. That will pretty much take care of Saturday.

My husband and my oldest son are working a side job all weekend, leaving me with the duties of shopping for and planning the family cookout on Monday. The usual cleaning and laundry duties will also take their share of time. And this summer-like weather is urging me to get some work done outside.

There is a stack of six books from the library I really want to read and six other books I've purchased and half a dozen on my Kindle that I really want to read. But my current WIP is demanding I fight through the middle. I'm afraid of letting the action slow down. Suddenly a three day weekend seems way to short. But that countdown meter is keeping me sane.

I want to take the time to give a shout out to James Garcia Jr. The official release date for Seeing Ghost is June 3rd but it's available now. Check out his facebook page or his blog to learn more.

Do you have plans this weekend? Are a lot of different things demanding your time? Do you know James or his books?

Hope you have fun this weekend. Today is my last day of work and then it's nine days of STAYCATION.

WOOHOO!

A stack of 6 books from the library sounds very appealing. I'd be tempted to forget the rest and read them LOL. We often have family things on the weekend as well. They take time but are so worth it just the same.

I think we need a three day weekend dedicated to reading. Just reading, nothing else. Oh, who am I kidding - even if I had that, I still wouldn't make a dent in my TBR pile/list. :)

I have so many things I need to catch up on this weekend and fear that time will be sucked away by something.

I hope to tackle some reading this weekend as well. I am so far behind.

I have such a huge TBR pile I daren't look at it some days. I'm gradually getting through it though. I like the idea of a three day reading weekend ...

That's a beautiful cover. Congratulations to James!

I don't have any definite plans for the weekend. Just a lot of "let's get together and do something" talk.

Enjoy your weekend!

I know James Garcia very well having had the pleasure of designing his covers. :) This one is one of my favorites.

Re: catching up
When I was young I remember sitting around on the front porch with parents and neighbors and doing nothing but enjoying the moonlight.

No tweeting, texting, Facebooking or gaming. Just people sitting and talking to one another.

I know what you mean. My life is a never ending cycle of catch up. I get so discouraged when I think I have a day to finally get things accomplished and work on catching up, only to learn that my kids, husband, work or something or someone else has a different plan for the day that includes me (of course, they usually wait until that day to tell me).

We are headed to our lake house for the long weekend. Hopefully the kids will have activities to keep them entertained so that I can actually get some work accomplished. Have a great weekend.

I'm pretty sure the earth is spinning faster lately.

Or I'm moving slower.

Something is definitely causing me to never get caught up.

I agree-- so many books, so little time, but I'm sure going to do my best to devour them all! Yay for James and his book. :)

I am still on vacation. Feels like there is NO time. But soon life will settle back into some semblance of "normal."

You're not the only one who doesn't have time for everything. I'm always feeling behind as well. I probably need to scrap a lot of my things and start over.

I guess catch-up will be part of my week-end plans, but so far I haven't gotten very far.

Happy birthday to your daughter.

Hope your daughter had a fabulous day!
I was just thinking that we need more than 24 hours in a day... but imagine what we'd do to ourselves if we had it? Frightening thought.

Can I say that I'm in the exact same boat you are? It's been ubber hard to get online a comment like I used to, but I'm letting you know I'm here and I care. One of these days things won't be so busy, for both of us, and we'll get to do those things we enjoy again. No shame in taking care of the things that matter, too. :)

There really aren't enough hours in the day in my life either right now.

Hope you carve out the time you need!
