Blood, Boobs and Carnage Blogfest

After a very busy weekend, it is so nice and normal to come home to the Blood, Boobs and Carnage Blogfest. This event is sponsored by Alex J. Cavanaugh and Heather M. Gardner. To participate, share a movie, TV show or book that fits the self-explanatory title of this fest.

I'm rather sure I'm not going to be the only one to pick this TV show and the books it is based on certainly fit the description too. My children bet on how many minutes into an episode of Game of Thrones the first nude scene will occur because lots of skin will be shown every week. Usually full nudity and not just of boobs. Blood and Carnage! Can I say Red Wedding? Too many examples to even name them and more will follow.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

The Pennwriters' Conference this past weekend was wonderful. You know I'll be sharing lots of information with you on this blog over the next few weeks with the first installment showing up this Wednesday. The only bad part of the event was driving through road construction. Pennsylvania does road work in a manner designed to torture commuters. I believe my home state to be the bozo kings of road construction.

I'm looking forward getting back to my WIP, the first in a new science fiction romance series. And it is time to get some yard work done. I haven't planted anything yet.

How does your state handle road construction? Do you think I picked the winner for the blogfest? Have your spring yard work done? Can I sign you up to attend our state conference next year?

I've heard tons of great things about Game of Thrones, but I haven't watched one episode yet. Oh I know....I'm terrible. Great Blogfest!

Well, if this is a "normal" post, I'm scared to show up another day, lol. This is one of the most obvious BB&C shows. Funny how the books are nowhere near this graphic. But I am enjoying both.

Looking forward to what you learned at the conference Susan.

Game of Thrones is a perfect example for this blogfest!
Looking forward to reading about the conference.

That was my choice as well.
Here we call road construction orange barrel storage.
Thanks for participating in our blogfest!

GoT is everywhere today! :)

Glad to hear the conference went well! Looking forward to hearing about it in future posts....

Yep, Game of Thrones fits this blogfest to a tee! I'm not a fan of road construction, and with our winters, it all has to take place in the summer. That said, I don't think they're out to torture us here in Rochester, but then again, I've lived here long enough to know alternate routes which helps enormously.

Jeremy [Retro] said...

GoT is wonderfully violet... yet charming, except Jeffreys... he was a tool.

Joffery... argh!

I've never seen the show.

Road workers must get paid by the hour here, which would explain why they take forever to finish a job.

I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan! As for construction, I have my fill already and the summer hasn't even started. They're putting a new interstate through our town and all the construction goes on during the summer while the university students are away.

So many of picked Game of Thrones and I haven't seen a single episode! I feel so left out. :(

Pat Hatt said...

Game of Thrones sure showed the carnage with Red Wedding.

Huntress said...

GOT is a major participant in the BB&C category, LOL

Game of Thrones is definitely the king of the Blogfest. In California they talk about road construction a lot and when they finally do it the create a major mess. If we left it up to our stupid Moonbeam governor though, none of us would be driving and we'd all be on foot, riding bicycles, or taking bullet trains to nowhere.

Game of Thrones was my choice as well. It was made for this blogfest. When I mentioned the theme of the blogfest o my wife, she thought it was about Game of Thrones. Glad you had a fun and educational time at the conference. I always feels good to get back to a WIP. I'm looking forward to getting back to writing.

HA! Love the betting on when first nudity will strike! This was my pick too--love this show.

Game of Thrones rules! Its really hard to top this one.

I have never seen Game of Thrones but one day I will and see what all the fuss is about

Lots of people choosing Game of Thrones. My son is big into it. I've only seen parts of it. It's definitely more violent than The Walking Dead (my favorite) has ever been.

I think Game of Thrones has made the most blogs for this challenge. After all, it's ALL about the blood, boobs and carnage!

Game of Thrones seems to be winning the blogfest... :D And with good reason too. Playing a drinking game with it is always quite fun, even if you only drink for nipples...
Cheers!

Your children seem very film savvy. Does money exchange hands on this betting? I agree--the Red Wedding was amazingly bloody.

I should have known that Game of Thrones would be nominated a lot. Good choice.

I would have planted this weekend, but the upcoming forecast showed a few 40 degree lows later this week, so I decided to wait.

Hi,
I can say Pennsylvania is not the only state behind the times. Here in Germany I believe the construction work dates back to the stone age. It never fails that right before school vacation there is construction all over Germany and also traffic jams.
As for your pick Game of Thrones, to be honest, I haven't seen it yet. (Don't scream :-) I don't get much American Television in Germany at all. You can buy a Sky Card but you have to have a residence in the U.K.
Shalom,
Pat

I'm intrigued by Game of Thrones. Haven't seen it yet, but so many people have raved about it.

It's on my "to watch" list.

Game of Thrones is almost too much for me... But it IS a good one for this blog hop!

Liesel K. Hill said...

Yeah the red wedding definitely fit the bill. I've read the books so I knew it was coming, but still... Love GoT, though. Almost as much as I love The Walking Dead. :D Great post!

Looking forward to hearing about your conference experience.

Seems like a lot of people like Game of Thrones in this meme ;) I've yet to see it :)

Glad the conference went well.

J E Oneil said...

Yep, totally the poster child for the blogfest. :)

Truedessa said...

I've actually never seen this as I don't have HBO. The construction around here has been terrible it takes so long to get across the bridge during the morning commute.

Carrie-Anne said...

I've heard so many things about how bloody and ruthless Game of Thrones is. Mr. Martin certainly doesn't have any sort of attachment to his characters, if he's so easily able to kill them off!

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

You'll be hooked if you start it.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

LOL. I guess the images are normal for my posts.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Lots of participants have picked it.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Great minds thinking alike. Road construction!!! I only have bad words for it.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I have at least six posts planned already.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

That is what created a problem for me. I was a stranger in a strange land and didn't know how to get around the road work.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Joffrey got what he deserved though maybe he died too quick.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

We say the same thing about ours. And I'm pretty sure it's true.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Just when you should be able to relax, the orange cones and barrels come out.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Join the madness, Chrys. And it is madness.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Sure did. They managed to make it worse than the book.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Lots of people went there.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

It is a slow go for fixing things around here. Every winter tears up something new.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

And here I am, having fun on this blogfest when I should be writing.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Yes! Great minds think alike. Sometimes the nudity is right after the opening credits.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

It is a perfect fit.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

One episode and you'll be hooked on it.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

It's likely to get worse before it's over.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

The Walking Dead is probably runner up though I say a number of things with more than one post.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

No money. Gentleman bets only.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

We had lots of rain today so I wish I had planted. Probably this weekend for me.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Glad to know you're sharing the pain overseas. Some things must be universal.

Shell Flower said...

We have a lot of stupid construction, as well. It's affecting right next to my work, so yeah, totally. As for Game of Thrones, hell yeah it fits this blogfest to a T. South Park did a funny episode about it and had a "dangling weiners" song to the theme song tune. Not just boobs indeed!

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Let us know when you start watching and how quick you get hooked.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I look away sometimes.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Those two were the ones most often mentioned.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I have at least six posts to share.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I can't believe how many people I'm finding out today haven't watched it.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Poster, evil, psychotic child.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

That's the worse when you have to drive through the construction and can't find a way around it.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

Martin doesn't hesitate to kill them off. The readers and fans suffer. As soon as you like someone you know they'll be gone.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

I wish I had heard that dangling weiners song. I know they have to do construction but they don't seem to use sense in how many miles they close at a time.

Nilanjana Bose said...

Heard a lot about it but never watched.. I don't have access where I am. Does seem to fit the BBC superbly though.

cheerfuloptimistic said...

I put off yard work for as long as I can.

Shannon Lawrence said...

I was explaining to my husband the other day that long before we started watching the show (just started), I knew Martin was known for killing off his darlings. Man, he just wipes everyone out. That show is certainly full of blood, boobs, and carnage.

TBM said...

The Red Wedding was pretty epic when it came to blood and carnage.

Game of Thrones is the best example yet of B,B & C. Outstanding. It sounds to me like you enjoyed the conference. Your WIP has to be good. Can't wait to read it one day. Yard work done here? Check. We live on a farm. Still planting veggies though.

I saw another blog with Game of Thrones as their pick too! Glad your conference went well. I've had some time to get some things in the ground, but not as much as I usually do. Thanks for dropping by! Lisa @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com

GoT is way ahead in the blogfest! I'll need to watch it someday. Glad the conference went well but boo to the roadworks. Around this time of year we have a lot because they're using up all their money for the financial year.

Hi Susan. Wow, I'm reading a lot about Game of Thrones. Until now I had no idea what it was really about. It just didn't spark my curiosity but it's piqued now for sure! I'll have to binge watch the first season so I can see what all the fuss is about... Happy BB&C!
