The Week That Was

Writing
If you're a writer, stop reading now and visit IWSG and learn about keywords and SEO. Everyone hoping to do any kind of promotion needs to understand these mysterious and often confusing terms and how to use them to your advantage.

I didn't get much writing done of my new WIP last week but I did hours of work on my A to Z posts. I hope to have at least half of them scheduled by this time next week. Even though my daughter was home, she had a lot of work to do on her thesis so we worked together separately.

Home Front
I enjoyed my children as teenagers and they're great adults. I don't miss them being in high school, if that makes sense. Except for one of my sons, all my children were excellent in math. I'm not saying they loved it, but they did love this day, 3/14. Yes, math geeks, it's pi day. The math teachers at our local high school would have a party day and the students would bring in pie. I lost count of how many I helped my children make. If your school doesn't celebrate pi day, maybe you can do it with your child and teach them a little math love.

I hope to get more outside work done this week. Lots of bulbs poking their heads up. The geese have been flying over for a few weeks now and the hawks are back. For the past year, there have been a lot of crows around. A entire murder, I suppose. They are creepy birds.

Entertainment
I haven't watched much TV lately though my favorite show, Once Upon a Time, has returned from hiatus. I caught up to The 100 on Netflix. I don't usually like shows where so many of the main characters are teenagers but the kids on that show have grown up fast. I also like post-nuclear war fiction trope. And Daredevil returns to Netflix on March 25th. Can't wait for that. It will help me survive March Madness when my husband and sons watch basketball 24/7. At least it seems 24/7.

That's all for today. My desk is piled so high with things I need to do and a multitude of Post-It notes to remind me of even more things to do.

Are you having pie today for pi day? Needs some pointer on SEO? Are you into March Madness?

  1. I would've loved pie day.

Thank you for mentioning my SEO post today.

I guess I need to make my March Madness picks really soon.

  2. Maybe pie would've made me like math more. :)

Great work on those A-Z posts! And nice you and your daughter worked "together."

  4. Just learned yesterday that a group of crows are called a murder :) Sounds like a good productive week last week! I saw something on Facebook today about people asking what kind of pie they would have today on pi day :)

Got all my A/Z written last week; just need one more picture and I'm done (but I am moving the week right before it so I got to be on top of things)

  5. Maybe it's time to make a pumpkin pie! Crows are very smart, and to me, not creepy at all.

  6. Never had pie day for math at my school. Always good to have those a to z posts done

  7. I should have made some pie today but I guess I'll have to settle for writing about it. :)
Even though I should be working on those A to Z posts instead...

  8. No one celebrated Pi Day when I was in school, but my nieces and godchildren now celebrate with pie in the classroom, and a contest to see which student can recite the most digits of Pi, and other activities.

I'm not into March Madness. I'll be happy when April arrives and my shows are back.

  9. Oh, there's that crow again! He's going viral, isn't he? And he's such a bad boy with that knife.

  10. Alas, last year was the best Pi day of all time. There won't be another one like it for a thousand years.

And now I really want pie...

  11. My son very much wants pie tonight, so we will be having pie for dessert. He does love math.

  12. So totally hilarious. Thats one smart black bird. Its bringing you the knife to get you to cut the ankle monitor off. Don't do it, Susan.

  13. Ummm, pie sounds great. I particularly like any kind of pie.

I've gotten hooked on the new show Lucifer. I've give up trying to get caught up with pop culture. If it didn't happen in the seventies, I am clueless.

  14. I missed that. The 100 second season is out??? Okay, I have to say thanks then rush over to Netflix. Thanks for letting me know. I'm not having pi but I am singing Get Another Piece of Pi for Your Wife.

  15. I love crows. I'd keep one as a pet if it were legal. For now I'll settle for giving them a piece of toast if they come by.

  16. Our local girls' basketball team has made it to the first round of the NCAA tournament (Colorado State University) so we'll definitely tune in for that. Ordinarily, though, my husband is into March Madness and I'm not.

  17. The crows around here are bigger than my dogs and look twice as mean. The dogs aren't left out unsupervised. I fear they may get snatched away and eaten.

My cohort's birthday is pi day, so let me tell you, he just loves all of the corny pi jokes that come his way.

  18. I didn't think of pi/pie until dinner and by then it was too late. Just as good, as we are trying to watch what we eat these days.

  19. Pi day is fun :) I don't remember celebrating it in school, but I think it's because we were usually on spring break at that point. I also watch Once Upon a Time and Daredevil; they are great shows!

  20. Hi Susan - we never had Pi day ... that might have helped me - but I wasn't bad at maths then! But pie - yes .. just written about rhubarb and pies ... and Knickerbocker Glories ... and you used to eat rhubarb raw - not sure I could do that ... maybe the pretty light early pink stems ... but rhubarb in various other forms - always!

Glad your A-Zs are coming along - and enjoy the time with your daughter ... studying and writing together - cheers Hilary
