Back in the Groove

What a great conference I attended this past weekend. I'll be telling you more about it in the coming weeks as I highlight some of the great workshops I experienced. I also have a few great guests lined up. Can't wait to tell you about them, but not today.

Weather is such a cliche conversation topic but if it doesn't stop raining every day in May, I'm going to ... I don't know what. Grow moldy, maybe.

Ankle is recovering. Ribs going a bit slower. Injuries sure healed quicker when I was younger.

A bad thing about writing conferences, I always come home with more books for my TBR pile. One of them was even free. I purchased the other two and got them signed. Both those writers on also on the future guests list. I surprised myself but getting quite a bit of writing done on my WIP at night after workshops and socializing was over. It helps when you can't sleep because of fricking broken ribs.

On the entertainment front, two of my favorite shows are done for the season. Once Upon a Time and The 100 both ended with terrific two part finales. One is a feel good fantasy about fairy tales come to life and the other is grim science fiction set in a post-apocalypse Earth. This summer, I looking forward the last season of Hell on Wheels and The Musketeers. Come on, BBC America, when are your bringing back those swaggering swordsmen with their cool hats?
The 100

The daughter is working from home for about four weeks until she leaves for Morocco for the rest of the summer. It's fun to have her around, especially when it comes to mowing the grass. If it ever stops raining.

Hi Susan - glad everything is mending - albeit slowly .. it will heal in its time! Good that you enjoyed the conference. Wonderful to have your daughter home - before another trip to Morocco - wonderful for her to go back ...

All the best and cheers to the life giving water - though I understand ... we live in a wet little island! Hilary

Hope you are feeling better today, Susan. So pleased you enjoyed the conference. I look forward to hearing more about it. I too, love The 100. I still have one or two episodes left to see before the finale :) No spoilers, please :) Wishing you lots of sunshine - "rain, rain, go away..." Have a lovely week. Enjoy the rest of your time with your daughter. I hope she has a great and safe trip.

May the ribs heal quickly.

It does seem like it's rained a lot this year. We've had some pretty days though. Good for my garden.

We seem to be getting a lot of rain too. I have to duck out and get my outside work done in between the raindrops. My garden is grateful, but I could use some longer breaks in between the rains.

Really sorry about those broken ribs.
Ready for Battlebots to start this summer!

Oh yeah, rib injuries take forever to heal. May yours recover soon.

I haven't watched The 100, but it's definitely on my Must-Watch list.

Glad you had a great time at the conference!

Yep, sure takes longer to heal as we age, no fun indeed. Suits is the only thing I'll watch this summer, and maybe that alien one starring Monk.

I did hear your part of the country was getting a lot of rain. It does get depressing after a bit especially if a lot of weekends are spent rainy. Glad to hear you are feeling better from the ankle injury; I agree with other commenters, it will take a bit of time for the rib injuries to heal. Glad you enjoyed the conference though!

I can't wait to read all about what you gleaned from the conference 😀

Sounds like it was a wonderful and inspiring conference. I'm sorry about the injuries. I'm glad they're healing, though slower than you'd like. Is my house clean this week? Um...no. Love that quote, by the way.

I'm looking forward to hearing about the conference. Our favorite part is socializing with new writers and making friends (preferably at the hotel bar) so we're eager to hear about your new upcoming guests.

Bummer about the broken ribs. I hope they (and you, by extension) recover soon!

Conference are always such highs. Glad you went and even "gladder" you have more on your TBR list!

I've heard about Once Upon A Time, but since I don't have TV, I'll have to search for it on Netflix.

Sure, your TBR list may be long, but they're books! It's a good problem to have :). I hope it stops raining soon. There better be some awesome flowers after all of it.

Sounds like the mending is a slow process. I want to say, "Take a deep breath," but you probably can't! Glad the conference was a success and wishing you lots of wellness soon.

My house is not clean . . . and finally, I have an excuse. :)
I hope it stops raining there soon. We've had another unusually warm spring this year . . . although we did have three days of rain, but those don't count when we've had four-five straight days of sun.
Glad the conference well and I hope you heal completely soon! :)

TBR piles never shrink. They only grow. Glad to hear you are mending. I must have missed what happened though. =S

I do hope the ribs finish healing quickly Nothing worse than broken ribs, I know from experience. My home isn't too bad but then I have cleaners in once a month.

Yep, my house if very clean this weekend, and rearranged. Now I need to paint! Nope, no writing, but its probably not because of the cleaning, lol. I do get a lot of "reading" done though; I drive long distance and let my Kindle read to me. Now that I have it hooked to blutooth I should get more "reading" done.

I hope you are getting better. Healing never seems to happen fast enough for me.

No, my house is not clean and I am getting some writing and writing-related stuff caught up before I get new carpet installed. No reason to clean until the carpet is in, right???

Normally I'd say breathe deeply, but in your case, not just yet. Glad you were able to attend the conference. I love them, but I live out in the wilderness and ... boring story. I haven't seen the 2nd season of The 100 yet, but I will. Great shows, both of them.

Haven't been to a conference in about two years, but I love them. Always come back feeling invigorated and inspired. I also love Once Upon A Time. It's a wonderful show that always sparks my imagination.

My house isn't clean, i am too tired after cleaning other people's to bother with my own. Hope your ribs feel a lot better soon, enough to let you get some sleep.
