QotM and News

First of the month of August and it's time for the Question of the Month Blog Hop, started by Michael started by Michael G. D'Agostino. Find him at A Life Examined. And this month's question is timely.

"What is your favorite beach?"

Unlike a lot of people, I'm not a huge beach fan. I love the heat but not such a fan of sand and waves. And worse, crowds of people. I don't hate the beach and can enjoy a few days there but not much longer. If I have to pick one, I would pick Myrtle Beach. We spent family vacations there with our children and last summer, actually one year ago as of yesterday, my son was married on that beach. His sister and three of his brothers were in the wedding party. It was a great family time.

Pat Hatt, writer and rhymer extraordinaire, has released more books in his Tarsier Man series.
Check them out on Amazon.

In case you're feeling the sneezes outside here in the northeast, I saw a stat that said a single ragweed plant can release one billion grains of pollen over the course of a season. Achoo. Bless you.

Don't forget this Wednesday is IWSG. If you're not sure what to write about, here is this month's question. Feel free to use or not.

What was your first piece of writing as an aspiring author? Where is it now? Collecting dust or has it been published?

Last week I mentioned that I needed suggestions of some summer TV to watch. Hart Johnson and Marcy Hatch suggested I check out Stranger Things on Netflix. Thanks to them, I watched the entire first season last week when I should have been writing. LOL.

I'm thinking of tying myself to my office chair this week to get some work done. So I'll end with this quote.
"Writers don't have lifestyles. They sit in little rooms and write." Norman Mailer

Do you have a favorite beach? Suffering from some allergies? Isn't Stranger Things awesome? Anyone know if there's going to be a season two and when? Did you read some Tarsier Man?

Hi Susan - wonderful photo of the family wedding - and such good timing for the prompt ... I am so glad I don't suffer from allergies ...

Favourite beach would be Godrevy in Cornwall ... wonderful times as youngsters ... even though I look out onto the Eastbourne reef here with the ebb and flow of the tides .. cheers Hilary

As I live on the South Coast of the UK the beach is a favourite place for me to go......to put my life into perspective and iron out any on going problems. I love all beaches especially in Spain.
Great post Susan, enjoy August.

Stranger Things was addictive, wasn't it?
I'm not a fan of the beach other, but Myrtle Beach was a good pick.
And Pat is a hard working author!

Myrtle Beach is fun. My favorite type of beach is a coastline though. I always loved Lincoln City's beach in Oregon.

I could walk on the beach for hours!

My husband and I binge-watched Stranger Things this weekend and totally loved it! I don't know if there will be more seasons but I hope so!

My favorite beach is an empty one. That's getting harder and harder to find.

That is such a great picture of the wedding party from a little over a year ago :) I can't believe its been a year already! When I was younger I did enjoy the beaches in the San Diego area; nowadays I like looking at the ocean but not necessarily going to the beach, I'm with you about the sun and crowds.

Thanks for the shout. Cassie hates the ragweed, gives her allergies galore. Not a beach fan either, crowds are a good reason. Stranger things was addictive indeed.

I've been to Myrtle Beach but it was loooong time ago. Having grown up in the Caribbean, I'm spoiled when it comes to beaches.

I tried Stranger Things but couldn't get through the first episode. Maybe I'll try again. I've been watching Penny Dreadful instead.

I haven't been to Myrtle Beach since I was a kid, but what a fun place to have a wedding and a fantabulous reason to skip the high heal shoes!

The colors for the beach wedding were so pretty.

Pat Hatt is a publishing beast!

What a lovely wedding. I really like those colors.

As far as Stranger Things go; yes, it's fantastic.

My affection for the beach hinges on my mood and, sometimes, the season.

What a beautiful place to have a wedding! And I keep hearing good things (pun not intended) about Stranger Things. I might have to start watching it tonight.

My roommate in grad school loved Myrtle Beach. I've never been there. I like the beach in small doses. I do wish I lived closer to one. Just to feel the sand between my toes. Then it would be nice just to lay in the sun. I live in Nebraska. No where near beaches, mountains, or waterfalls. The prairie life is what we're known for. We also have the best zoo in the world right here.

Our youngest was married on the beach in Jamaica. Didn't do much for my wild hair, but the backdrop was stunning.

My first WIP which is a shifter romance and a 1st place contest winner is sitting on my flashdrive :) I haven't decided if I'll ever release it. I like the beach but I can take it or leave it

I'm not much of a beach fan either. Or maybe it's the sand getting everywhere that I'm not a fan of.

It looks like several people on this blog hop aren't huge fans of the beach. I like them. I have great memories going to them with friends and family.
I just started watching Stranger Things. It's great!

Loved Myrtle Beach but I am with you when it comes to crowds. Give me a secluded strip of shoreline!

That's funny. I read about Stranger Things on another blog today. I'll have to check it out.

My favorite beach is York Beach in Maine. The sand is fine and powdery (not grainy) and you can make drip castles.

Oh, yes, I suffer from allergies. I have frequent sinus headaches. I'd be nervous about a beach wedding, or an outdoor wedding of any kind. Too much can go wrong.

Love,
Janie

I contemplate buying a beach home. It is a contemplation not a reality. I don't know if I have it in me for another major move. Plus, there is this little cash flow problem. lol But, I love the outdoors. As soon as I moved there I would start pining to live somewhere else. So I stay.

The air has been bad in my little corner of Northern Colorado so added to the pollens, it's not that pleasant for the allergy or asthma-prone to be outside this summer. As for beaches, I liked walking by the ocean and hunting shells in Delray Beach, Florida...and it wasn't far from my favorite restaurant Boston's on the Beach which had really good crabmeat salad sandwiches.

My favorite beach is what ever one I happen to be sitting on!

Perdido Key. Sugar sand beaches, and if you stay at the condos right next to the state park, it's not really crowded.

My sympathy on the allergies.

Myrtle Beach is great especially for the sentimental value it holds for you. Good choice!

Wonderful wedding picture on that beach - a life memory.
My post on my favorite beach is finally live too, if a week late: https://olgagodim.wordpress.com/2016/08/08/question-of-the-month-august-2016/
