Happy Labor Day

I hope all my American friends have the day off and get to spend this end of summer holiday with family and friends. Our house is a little empty with two of the children at the beach, one working and the other very busy coaching football. But after a hectic summer, I'm enjoying the slow pace and some quiet around here.

Rest is the sweet sauce of labor.  American Proverb

I'm getting that writing done and am very pleased with my word count. I ran across this interesting article about the daily word counts of famous authors. I've had 5,000 word days but it's not my normal pace.

Don't forget on Wednesday, IWSG will be giving you all the news about the next anthology. I'm scurrying to finish my book so I'll have lots of time to read the entries. Can't wait!

Also, if you're not sure what to write for IWSG's Wednesday post, you can use this month's question.
How do you find time to write in your busy day?

I'd also remind everyone to follow IWSG on Twitter. And hopefully, you'll follow me also. There are lots of great writing tips being shared.

I'm going to the bookstore today. Can't help it since I have a nice coupon. Must get another book! And I'll probably sit in the cafe and write a little bit. I won't just sit there and drink coffee though. That's just not right.

Short post since I'll back on Wednesday with the anthology announcement. Are you taking it easy today? How does your word count measure up to the famous writers? Are you following IWSG and me on Twitter?

I've had a four day weekend which is wonderful. But tomorrow, I need to get on schedule and get to writing on schedule. I sort of drifted away versus quit. Our days get that busy at times.
Take care.

It is Labour Day in Canada too Susan. Not that it makes a heck of a lot of difference to us as we are retired. Enjoy your day and get lots of writing done.

Kind of half resting, half working today. Writing to do, plus some house cleaning.

Went to the bookstore and the library this weekend so totally loaded up with books. :)

I'm ready for IWSG this Wednesday!

Hi Susan - glad everyone is busy ... doing their stuff - and you're now able to write and get your word count up. Hope you find a fun book ... or a good one! or both, I guess.

I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone makes the time to write in the IWSG posts on Wednesday ... cheers Hilary

That is interesting their word count, I blow all of them away except for the 2 10K ones. Had 12K days before but my arm feels like jelly after that haha

That was a funny quote about Starbucks and coffee LOL :) Imagine enjoying a cup of coffee without technology around us :) Sounds like you are doing good with your word count and getting things done! Enjoy the day!

We had an awesome day yesterday full of BBQs and beer... which amounted to a 0 word count day. Oops. Guess we've got to double-time it today! Only 20,000 and we'll be on track with Michael Crichton...

Hope you had an awesome Labor Day yourself and got a great new book!

I spent Labor day working around the house. Not the kind of rest I was hoping for.

Bookstores are such fun places to visit, aren't they?

I am at Barnes right now. Catching up on blogs and sipping mint tea.

Love it.
