30 Days? Already?

Can we really be 30 days into 2017 already? My calendar says this is true. My word count says over 50K written in my new WIP in January. Haven't come up with a title for that one yet. Since I write in series, I always decide on all three titles at one time and a name for the series as well as the general plot for all three books. Still happy about the progress though as usual, crappy first draft is happening. Rewrites ahead.

A reminder that Wednesday is February 1st and that means Insecure Writer's Support Group post day. Lots of good stuff to talk about this week. If you want to use the question this week (you don't have to) it's an interesting one.
How has being a writer changed your experience as a reader?

I read a good book this past week. The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Livingston, book one in an epic fantasy series. So many mysteries, twists and hints of a horrific history. Though the POV characters were young, it doesn't like a YA book. Even at the end, I'm not sure whose side everyone is on. I highly recommend it if you enjoy Brandon Sanderson or Michael J. Sullivan styles of storytelling.

I've managed to catch a few hours of TV lately also. I loved Pitch last fall. If you didn't watch it, you Lucifer has been fun this season. What could be better than finding out that God has a plan to redeem his fallen angel? And the 4th season of Sherlock didn't disappoint though it managed to break my heart a little. And this Wednesday, my current favorite show The 100 comes back on for its 4th season. It's such a dark show but so interesting. Last season the protagonists battled the AI that caused the nuclear holocaust while facing their own xenophobia and tribalism. Though the supposed heroes have been victorious each season, there's no happy celebration. To win, they always have to make decisions and do things that challenge their moral codes. There's never a perfect answer and always an emotional toll. This season they're facing a second radiation danger as the nuclear power plants left unattended for almost a hundred years start to meltdown. It will be good. And that's all the TV I currently have time for.
should even if you don't like baseball.

Did January sneak by you like a slippery eel going down a water slide? Have you accomplished what you wanted this month? Find some good books lately? Are you a fan of any of the shows I mentioned?

Yes Susan 30 days into 2017, where does the time fly?
I loved that quote it is so very true. I recall writing my own poetry books having to rectify mistakes which I never noticed before. I look forward to the ISWG on Wednesday, that goes withoout saying. Reading the A to Z Challenge Blog Arlee says there's an important message about this years challenge next Monday.

It doesn't seem like Christmas was over a month ago.

I don't watch much TV. When it's been on lately, we've been binge-watching a lot of the Big Bang Theory.

I'm all set for IWSG!

Love PITCH! Also THIS IS US. I have THE 100 on my To Watch list - may have to binge watch that at some point.

I started watching Taboo. Cool show.
I wish I could think of titles that easily.

That is a great word count indeed, I've been more in editing mode this month, and still have 5 friggin books left to edit lol. Haven't watched Lucifer, heard it was good though.

January dragged for me. Probably because I have a book release next month, and I want it to happen now. Figures, eh?

I haven't seen any of the shows you mentioned, but your word count, along with your method to naming books (oh, you just finish all 3 first, right) remind me that I need to get off my behind and write! You're making the rest of us look bad. ;)

January definitely felt like an eel going down a water slide. I didn't accomplish most of what I wanted to do this month.

I'm a big fan of Sherlock (just maybe not all of season four...), and The 100 has been on my must-watch list for a while now. I'll get to it. Someday. Probably.

Congrats on your 50K...That's fantastic!

I cannot believe January is nearly gone too! Sherlock made me feel the same way.

Congrats on the super word count in January!

Honestly, I feel like it's been a lot longer than thirty days. Especially the last week.

50K in January is pretty fantastic! It always takes me forever to come up with titles. Sometimes I just have to keep writing the story and hope it comes to me.

It's been a pretty good month. Difficult moments, but good on the whole. Good luck on getting those titles!

I've just come from a sit down with my critique partners, so I am feeling good. I had some time off over Christmas, but have been hard at it for weeks now. Only seven drafts, Michael Creighton? Well done, you.

I'm starting to get the same feeling about TV that I get about books. You know when you walk into a bookstore and think to yourself that there's so much to read and so little time. I haven't had a chance to watch any of the shows you mentioned, but I hear they're all great.

The older I get, the faster time flies and the slower I move. :D

We started watching Vikings this month and are already to Season 3. Doesn't seem enough time in the normal season to watch anything, so Netflix helps us catch up. I know! One month into 2017 already! Wish I could rein Time in.

I love that you name all 3 books in a series at one go. It seems like something I would do if I ever wrote books (which is unlikely).

I am currently reading The Lunar Chronicles (which is quite interesting) and binge watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix, which is strangely addictive.

Happy that you had a productive Jan. Wishing you the best with re-writes.

we enjoy Sherlock. Been watching it again, this past weekend. A 3-day weekend of Sherlock, to be honest. But, we're behind as we watch it on Netflix, so once I saw you were talking about it, I had to stop reading. No spoilers, I was afraid. Or, better said, I was afraid of spoilers.

Anyway, Happy New Week!
