Nearly Missed It

I'm going to get my Monday post up with three hours to spare. I have no excuses for not having it up earlier today. Tired? Lazy? Busy? Probably all three.

Being late does allow me to link to the IWSG post today. Bestselling author Mary Buckman talks about websites, hooks, and plotting. Lots of good advice from an expert.

The book event I attended on Saturday was fun and I made contact with many of my writer friends I hadn't seen for a while. You'll be meeting some of them as guests on my blog in the next few months. As for the book sales, blah. There was very little patron traffic except for family and friends. I only sold three books which probably paid for my gas and the snack I bought on the way home.

The leaves are turning and beautiful as they float to the ground. I'm enjoying the mild weather and the cool nights. It's the best of fall right now. Seeing lots of butterflies. They are very beautiful for cannibals.

"October, the extravagant sister, has ordered the most gorgeous forest tapestry for her grand reception." Autumn by Oliver Wendell Holmes

50/50 going slow but steady. I hope to finish the book I'm working on and move onto my next project by the start of December. Big plans.

I won't be posting next Monday but on Wednesday instead for IWSG. In the meantime, I'll be writing. When I'm not I'm re-watching Stranger Things. I'm sure lots of you will be tuning in next weekend for season 2. Can't wait. Can it possibly be as good as the first season? Lots of pressure on those writers.

Are you looking forward to Stranger Things? Do you love fall? Did you know those cute little butterflies were cannibals? Ready for some scary Halloween fun this coming weekend?

  1. You made it!
    Sorry sales were low.

  2. Unfamiliar with Stranger Things Susan. No, I didn't know butterflies were cannibals. We have a butterfly place near hear and I don't remember them saying anything about that. Pity the sales were low but if the patrons weren't there I guess it's not surprising.

  3. Liking fall because the air conditioner is on less, equals cheaper electric bill :) Haven't heard of Stranger Things.

  5. Sorry that you didn't sell more books, but great that you connected with writer friends. And thanks for reminding me that I need to read the IWSG post.

  6. At least you paid for gas and a snack. Yep, we'll be finished Stranger Things Season 2 by the end of the weekend.

  7. Sometimes it's the networking and leads to the next opportunity rather than the sales. Although sales are good!

  8. Sometimes fairs and such are big flops. When i was in sales (i'm terrible at it and learned better), i figured out really fast which venues were going to work and which were not. If i could afford a table, it wasn't!

Autumn is so beautiful, we have some cool weather for now, and it is blissful.

  9. The butterflies have finally left my yard but now I have a cute pygmy nuthatch and a couple of types of woodpecker as regular visitors. I need to plant things to attract more of these critters because I enjoy watching them so much.

  10. Only sold there books? The book event I did in June resulted in one book sale and I lost that money when I returned the sale and bought her book. Hahaha!

  11. As long as it's still Monday, it counts :). Too bad you didn't sell more books, though.

Just a few days left until season 2! I can't wait!

  12. I can't wait for Stranger Things. We've had a mild fall so far here in Maine, which is fine by be. It can stay mild all through winter as far as I'm concerned!

  13. Wonderful to read, all seasons have their beauty one way or another. Though here of late have had much storms and even a hurricane.

  15. I don't think I'd ever heard butterflies are cannibals, not even when I took my campers to a local butterfly garden and educational center.

Sorry to hear you didn't sell many books, though it was nice you got to reconnect with writer friends.

  16. Count me envious. I'm counting the days until I reach the season of life when I can travel and attend author events.

  17. I plan to attend a vendor event next weekend - not a book/writer specific one, just a vendor event with everything from makeup to jewelry to cards to cookware ... and hey, my books, too. :) I don't know how it will go, but I'll see. I've had some crummy event experiences in the past, so my main goal is handing out bookmarks, flyers, and smiles. If I can sell a few books, it will be a bonus.

  18. I'm ready for Halloween. This is my favorite holiday.

  19. I'm on my third attempt to watch Stranger Things. I found the first episode very slow for some reason. I'm now through three of them and things are getting better, but it bugs me that so many things feel like other movies. Poltergeist, for example, with the missing kid talking through the phone instead of the TV. I know it's supposed to be meant as a tribute, but sometimes I just roll my eyes.

  20. Glad you enjoyed the book fair despite low sales. We're in the thick of Halloween now with all the kids' parties going on.

  21. I tend to watch series after they've been out for awhile. Just now getting into The Office, which means I'll probably be watching Stranger Things in about ten years or so. :)

  22. I was wondering why you didn't post today, and then you reminded me, Stranger Things. I assume you're taking that extra 2 days off to be in the Upside Down.

I'll be watching tonight. Cannot wait.
