I've been so busy, but I didn't forget the first Wednesday IWSG. I want to start with an apology for not getting around to other blogs the last two months. I'll do better. Thank you to IWSG founder, Alex J. Cavanaugh and all the admins of this super supportive group. There is so much information on the IWSG site, you can spend all day there when you need to procrastinate.
I expected to be done with my first draft on my newest fantasy series, but I keep writing and not getting to 'The End.' I will keep going, but the second draft might take forever. I already of a list of things to fix, rewrite, delete, etc.
I have a book signing in about 10 days. It's at a combination greenhouse and gift shop. I've been doing this event off and on for about ten years. I sold a lot of books last year and hope to do even half as well this year. I also give out information to other writers about IWSG and Pennwriters. I have the best of both worlds, Pennwriters, an in-person writers group, and IWSG, an online community. There is so much expertise in each group, that I will never learn everything that is offered.

I expect many of you will be enduring an ice storm tonight into tomorrow. What it means for me, besides worrying about people who have to drive to work, is that my granddaughter will have virtual school. Since her parents are both teachers and will be conducting their own Zoom classes, that means Grammy is sharing her office. I recently gifted her with her own desk and desk chair because she loves using mine so much. Hers is like mine except smaller. She loves it and it means I can get work done while staying out of sight for her virtual school day. Stay safe and warm, everyone.

I've been keeping up with my walking, averaging around 14K steps per day. I feel a difference in my energy the longer I keep at it. But I can't take the cold, so most of my steps are inside. I need a little warm weather to keep me motivated.
I've been watching a lot of documentaries on Amazon and Netflix lately. I can't seem to keep interest in any series or movies lately. Nothing I'm really looking forward to either.
Are you in the path of the coming ice storm and the two following behind it? Watched any good documentaries lately? How do you get your exercise when the weather is bad? What are you working on currently?
Hope you all stayed safe and warm during the ice storm. We had our own extreme weather in Scotland a couple of years ago. Because of it, we persuaded the hospital to let me out a day early as otherwise it would have been another whole weekend. Wishing you excellent sales for your signing.
ReplyDeleteNot looking forward to tomorrow's storm. I think we are on the line so I am hoping we will miss it. I am impressed with your walking! I too struggle with the cold. I thought I'd start walking again in February, but it hasn't happened yet. I don't have a goo inside location. Good luck with your book signing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been interested in watching much either lately. Good luck with your manuscript. I'm revising my current one and have to try to change my climax based on early reader comments.
ReplyDeleteI really wish we had more author events near here. Or cons. Everything is such a drive.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow two weeks ago, but definitely no ice here.
Good luck at your book signing event. I hope you sell lots of books again.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the event.
ReplyDeleteI listed several things I've been watching today.
No ice but we are much colder today.
You sound so busy, Susan. I'm badly in need of some of your energy. Don't suppose you could send some my way!?? Have a great IWSG Day.
ReplyDeleteHow cute that your granddaughter has a mini version of your desk!
ReplyDeleteWell done on those steps! We're fortunate we can walk outside this time of year, which I prefer over the treadmill. Getting back to it slowly, though, after being sick a chunk of January.
Good luck with the book signing event!
The weather has been so, so cold this year. I do my steps indoors as well.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have an ice storm coming, but we're under flood warnings. That weather just keeps on dumping and dumping on us, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new series!

I'm sorry about the ice storm, but it sounds like you are making the best of it. I love that your granddaughter can share your office. :) And good for you getting steps in! That helps with the winter doldrums. I'm having a hard time getting into a good series or movie too, but when I do watch something it's usually a documentary. But that's research, right? Happy ISWG!
ReplyDeleteI love the image I have in my head of you and your granddaughter working away side by side each with your desks. That's so wonderful!!! :) I have been walking/stepping/dancing around more inside, too, and I am just not wanting to walk in cold rain/slush. I'm not in the path of the ice storm, thankfully.
ReplyDeleteI hope you stay warm.
Recommending (if you are okay with violence and swears, and a few "why would they do that" moments) The Recruit, a thriller series on Netflix that has some comedy in it. I also liked the first season of The Night Agent, but the second season ending with a "solution" to a problem that even had me saying - "why, just why would they do that? They could have turned off the electricity and it would have been easier." These are usually the kinds of comments my engineer husband makes. Other than that, there's a lot of meh out there in the entertainment world, it seems like lately. Ohh, just remembered, it's not new, but I liked "The Holdovers" a dramedy about a private school instructor left behind with a group of students over a winter break set in 1970. It's funny, and sad, and heart-warming.
Hi Susan - the thought of an ice storm sounds horrific. Getting exercise in the cold is not easy ... so I admire you for getting on with it indoors. I try and watch educational things ... but wallow around in choice! Take care ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI feel like the storm isn't too bad where I am but I still don't plan on going anywhere today. Staying inside where it's warm.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your book signing!
The desk for your granddaughter sounds like a great idea. I do hope your weather gets better soon.
