Hopefully, I'll catch up on blogs and get some editing done today before this wet, heavy snowfall brings down the powerlines as predicted. We have enough firewood in to keep the chill off one room if needed. Usually I found the first snowfall of the season lovely but getting it in October kind of takes the charm off the experience.
The only good news is the weather will keep me at my writing work.
While in Chapel Hill, my daughter and I did our usual routine of investigating any local independent bookstores we can find as well as Barnes and Noble. We found a terrific store called Flyleaf Books. My daughter invested in two thin books of French poetry published in the 1920's and I found an early book by an author I've been meaning to sample. If she decides to attend college at UNC, that store will see us again.
We also made our tour of the coffeeshops. She's of the Starbucks generation but I was thrilled to find a Caribou Coffee shop. I like Caribou better and their cafe was very comfy. I wish we had one of their places around here. Today though is a hot chocolate day.
So Caribou or Starbucks for you? Snow or sunshine today? Hot chocolate or hot coffee or wine?

Snow. It's been coming down for the past few hours, though it isn't sticking to much.

We've got rain that wants to be snow. I've never heard of Caribou - and as I'm Canadian, it'll always be Tim Horton's!!! :)

There's some cool stuff in the RDU area, although not many bookstores anymore.
And wish we were getting snow soon. At least the past two days have been cold.
I live in the central part, not far from Harrisburg, so we got somewhere around 6 inches of snow today.
Alex, I would send all the cold and snow your way if I could.
Snow in October is the norm in my neck of the woods, but it's been pretty mild so far. Sometimes I wonder why I don't live in Hawaii.
I don't drink coffee. I do drink hot chocolate from time to time.
We had snow. Not nearly as much as you ended up with but still, a lot more than we've seen in October in quite a while.
Today it's sunny but cool so I have a fire going and soup on the stove while I blog hop and catch up on visits. I haven't been traveling but I feel like I have because life has been hectic! Glad you enjoyed your trip!

Never been to a Caribou, but I'd love to try one.
Glad you had a good trip and made it home before the storm. Our power was spotty enough it kept me offline, but we were luckier than most.
