What's Your Chocolate Blogfest?

I joined this blogfest hosted by M. Pax, Laura Eno, Brinda Berry,  and Ciara Knight as an opportunity. Please don't abandon me when I confess that I'm not a huge chocolate fan. I'm ducking now.

But I know lots of my writer friends love the sweet, smooth flavor of that dark treat. Here's another confession. I live very, very close to the Hershey Chocolate Factory. I have family who work there. We have Hershey stuff, all the newest test treats, readily available.

Now I won't turn down a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup or a Peppermint Patty, but I seldom buy them. I don't crave chocolate. I don't like mocha flavor coffee. But I'm not entirely missing the chocolate love train.

As the night cools in the fall, I love me a cup of hot chocolate. I don't even need the marshmallows. I've spend many nights at sporting events over the years, football, field hockey, cross country, and warmed my insides with some half-stirred cups of hot chocolate from concession stands across central PA and even some out of state venues. I used to make it by the pot when my kids were little and heading out to play in the snow. They had the cheap stuff. Now that many of them are settled into their own little corners of the universe, I buy the really good hot chocolate mixes for my husband and me. He usually doesn't want any, so more for me. And in the ultimate tribute to hot chocolate, it played a vital part in my second futuristic romance, The Lesser Evil. My kick-butt heroine had a real weakness for the brew.

I'm avoiding the temptation of posting some pictures of hot chocolate here I snagged off the internet. I'm too worried about copyright issues.

So what is your favorite form of chocolate? Are you a Hershey fan? Mars? I do like M&Ms though they make creepy commercials. I hope reading everyone's favorite doesn't change my views on chocolate.

You don't like chocolate by the truckload? You are indeed unique. I haven't had a really high quality hot chocolate drink. I've made it from scratch, but I tend to like the mixes just as much. I must investigate. That's cool that your heroine drinks it!

I do consider chocolate to be one of my main food sources. I always have peppermint patties in my fridge. And my locker at work. And my bedside table. And my car and...

Can't go past a good cup of hot chocolate on a cold winters night!

I don't crave it, but I am a sucker for the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. And now that it's getting cooler, I can see some hot chocolate in my future.

I stopped eating chocolate 10 years ago. More of a vanilla girl now.

I'm in the same boat as you... I don't crave chocolate - never have!
I actually have a savoury instead of a sweet tooth.

I love to mix hot chocolate and coffee. That is a good cold weather drink.

Hot cocoa is good with lots of mini-marshmallows!
Dark chocolate is my fave.

If I lived near the Hersey chocolate factory, I'd be in trouble. Thanks for participating in the blog hop!

i am kinda like you--i don't eat much of it--don't prefer it in my cake flavors or ice-cream--but if i do indulge in the candy, i love dove and cadberry--i think i spelled that wrong:)

Hot chocolate is great. I prefer it without marshmallows.

Ah, hot chocolate! Yes, my boys were thrilled with the cheapo Swiss Miss kind as long as it had mini-marshmallows in it.

A good cup of hot chocolate made with Torani chocolate syrup always hits the spot.

I love a hot chocolate on those cold nights too... :)

Hey, not everyone can be the same. Let me confess something as well: I do not like cookies.

My daughter, when she was 9 or so, got to make a trip to the Hershey factory with her girl scout troop. They were gone for 5 days and I was going nuts not having her around ... Today she turned 21 actually and I have not seen her in years as she moved to CA. It's amazing what these blog posts make us think of!

I love hot chocolate too, especially in the winter.

Mina Lobo, another Blogger, enlightened me to the existence of a Godiva chocolate bar that I fear and crave in equal parts.

Godiva's Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel Bar. (I feel like there should be trumpeting fanfare before the title.)

I have not yet had the guts to try it. But someday, it will be mine.

I love dark chocolate - at least 70% cocoa! But I'm with you on the hot cocoa! That stuff is good!

I love the M & M ads, but maybe we have different ones in NZ. I've been enjoying chocolates from Butlers, an Irish company that's set up shop in New Zealand.

By some weird coincidence I just finished a mug of Swiss Miss Dark Chocolate Cocoa. A little later in the year and it would not be such a coincidence. But as it happens, this was the first time in a long time it's been cool enough in the evening for this treat to be appealing. Thanks for hopping on board with this chocolate fest!

Mmmm. I like hot chocolate, but I also like to mix hot chocolate with coffee. Saw a photo somewhere on the blog hop today of hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows on top. That's new to me.

Oddly enough I do not like hot chocolate. Hot fudge on a sundae, but I don't like drinking hot things. I love me the chocolate ice cream when it's 4 degrees outside, though. :)

I know people who aren't big chocolate (or sweet) fans, and prefer savoury. I'm cursed in the fact that I love both. haha

Dark chocolate's my downfall, but I don't discriminate. :)

HI---I've never really drank a lot of hot chocolate--although I like Tim's idea of mixing coffee and chocolate--I'm a coffee drinker for sure.

Hot chocolate is heaven on a cold night. Unfortunately, we don't have many of those here in Florida. Thanks for joining the blogfest!

And you might already know about it, but here is a link to free photos, no copyright issues to fear:

When you mentioned the Hershey Chocolate factory I could smell chocolate. As to the choices, I'd go with M&Ms. Love the crunch.

Have guess I have a love for IKEA chocolate, or European chocolate for that matter. :)

I visited Hershey five years ago. It was like paradise! I grew up in Canada, so I had a lot of Cadbury chocolate growing up. Mmm, milk chocolate.

I always wanted to work in a chocolate factory! Dream come true... but then I heard horror stories about the people who worked there NOT WANTING TO EAT CHOCOLATE ANYMORE... so I went to a library instead :-)

Hot chocolate just goes with a cold, snowy winter evening...and a banana chocolate chip muffin on the side doesn't hurt either. After this long hot summer we've had, that snowy evening sounds mighty good.

If I was a chocolate lover, I would be totally green with envy of your proximity to a chocolate factory.

Just stopping by from the Chocolate Blog Hop and saying hi!

I'm in the mood for some hot chocolate now.

These days I eat M&M's, Twix, and Snickers.
