A to Z Blogging Challenge: K

I love Fridays and here we are at the second one for the 2013 A to Z blogging challenge. Check out the list of other bloggers here. My theme this year is connected to my upcoming retirement from teaching. I have an entire list of ways I hope to advance my career as a full time writer starting in June. Most of the time I will be asking for advice and I've already received some useful stuff.

K: Kindness. The world in general needs more kindness. One of the things I've noticed about the writing and artistic community is the generosity and kindness shared between people who know each other only through online communities. People do things for each other. Ask a question and receive lots of free, expert advice. Need to get word out about a book release, ask and your shall receive lots of virtual ink. And hopefully we all pay it forward.

Another thing on my list once I retire is to do more pay backs. I've been blessed by the assistance of so many people since I started writing, I have a long list of debts. And today I'm receiving the gift of having Michael Di Gesu highlighting my book, The Keepers of Sulbreth, as his 'K' offering for the challenge. Michael is featuring a different book on his blog for every letter this month, giving lots of writers a boost. It also makes him the perfect fit for kindness day here and I hope you'll visit him at ... In Time.  Thank you, Michael!

What kindness have you received from a fellow blogger? Do you know Michael? How have you payed it forward?

Kindness is so easy to do, but I don't do it often enough.
Best of luck with the new career! :-)

You are so right! The blogging community as a whole has been very kind and generous and therefore, we should also be very kind and generous to our fellow bloggers.

I'm in awe of the kindness I've recieved in the blogging/online writing world. I try to pay it back whenever I can. (Which is almost as good a feeling.)

Hi, Susan,

What a LOVELY shout out... probably the sweetest one I have ever received. I am so happy to help you and other writers promote their books. This is an awesome community and the reason being because of the people in it!

I hope you like what I created for Keepers! Have a wonderful and fulfilling weekend.

It's always exciting to have your book featured on someone else's site or blog! Congrats! Kindness is so important, and often times forgotten.

Saw the writeup on Michael's blog, and hopped over to say this sounds like a great book, Susan. I like this type of fantasy.

I wish you many sales. (kind of like Happy Trails, to you) I like your retirement counter. A milestone.

Oh yes, kindness from bloggers, forgot to say I've appreciated mentions by other bloggers, free review books by bloggers, and also the gift of their time in comments.

When I first discovered the writers blogging community, I thought, "But these people are each other's competition. Why would they promote and support each other?"

I'm still not sure I understand why, but isn't it glorious that we do?

Michael, that was the best intro to my book ever. I wish I had had you to work with when I did a radio spot for this book with my old publisher.

I'm new to the blogging world, and I wish the rest of the world were more like the blogging world. You're all very kind, as far as my experience has gone to this point.

I haven't visited Michael in a while. I'll stop by and say hello. And thanks for spotlighting the word Kindness! We sure need more of that in the world.

And I have a new blog. Hope to see you stop by and say hello!
