Once in a while I'll follow a link to one of the Huffington Post articles. I'm never sure how scientific their lists are but they do make interesting reading. They like putting numbers in their posts. I would actually read more of their stuff if their pages didn't take so long to load sometimes. Too many adverts.
18 Things Highly Creative People Do Differently has a long descriptive list of creative people. Of course, I had to compare myself to those habits. I surprised myself by seeing myself in some but not all of them.
I do daydream and I tend to observe everything around me. I don't want to miss anything. I like some, need solitude at times. I like being alone, not always easy growing up in a big family and having one of my own. I admit to asking the big questions though I don't get many answers.
I don't fit them all. I'm not a big risk taker but I think we'll all do less of that as we mature. I hope. A few of the others don't fit me either. I guess I'm a somewhat creative person, not quite qualifying as highly creative. If you have time, go to the article and see how you rate in the creativity rankings.
Thanks to all the wonderful visitors for IWSG on Wednesday. It was a fun and busy day. Don't forget Wormhole blog hop starting on Monday.
Do you think you're highly creative? Disagree or agree with Huffington's list?

That list is wonderland, and totally me!
I was pleased to fit into several. Thanks for sharing!
I fit the daydreaming, solitude, and people watching the most. Three of my favorite things. :) Fun list.
I have never been a risk taker. Guess I'm off the list as well.
I'd say I hit about 16 of the 18. However, as I read the article, I thought that made me sound pretty selfish. It's all about ME (the collective ME). I'd like to think I take other people into consideration as I day dream or eavesdrop. You know.
I'll have to check out the list; I've been seeing a lot of people posting it on Facebook. Like you, I usually avoid the Huffington Post articles. They do take a long time to load.
Happy weekend!
I think one of the biggest takeaways for me from that article was about the "paradoxes of the creative self…Imaginative people have messier minds." In my case, that is SO TRUE. It's crazy in here. :)
Interesting article. You say that you don't see yourself as a risk-taker. I disagree. You are a writer. That alone is a huge risk. Do you know how many people want to write but are too scared to do it? Or too tired? Or simply don't have the ability to set aside the time? Of course, the Bigger Truth is that if you have a creative dream you MAKE time for it. You have gone so far as to publish your work knowing that it might be reviewed badly. Allowing people to read anything that we have written is a huge risk. People are so critical and judgy and like to throw hate all over your lovely work. So, in my opinion, just sharing your work with the world is a huge risk. Count yourself among the risk-takers.
In other news, I dedicated something to you on the Thursday post. Hope you like it!
I take risks here and there, so I can see myself a bit there. But yeah like being alone too
I read this post and was a little dismayed. I'm like a few, but unlike quite a few other qualities the pointed out. On the other hand, I prefer writing nonfiction. Still, I do think of myself as a creative person. Maybe creative in practicality? Now it has me thinking too much! ;)
You sound a lot like me, right down to the large family.
Great post Susan.
Lots of those points sound familiar... especially the solitude (I love my own company), intrinsic motivation, observing things in the surrounding environment, seeking out new experiences, curious about learning new things; however, I've never been a day dreamer or risk taker... so I'm wondering where I belong on that creativity scale...
Writer In Transit
I could relate to a couple things on that list, but definitely not all. For example, I am most definitely not a people-watcher or observer. This tends to surprise people, since I'm an artist, so I'm guessing I'm an anomaly with how I approach creativity, heh.
I matched quite a lot, but not all either. I'm glad I'm less of a risk taker now! :)
I'll have to take a gander at the list. I think you're somewhat of a risk taker. You submitted your writing to publishing houses. You shared your writing with cps. I see those as pretty big risks. :)
Duh, he means from the rest of the world. I thought it would be about our differences as creative beings. LOL. I don't always catch what's happening the first time round. Nor do I take many risks. Failing up? ummm. Not sure.
Blogs loaded with adverts always drive me away. As for risks ... I say why stop taking more of them as we age? But rather, keep taking them, challenge ourselves and have fun, even if the risks are sometimes scary.
