Flying Friday

No, I'm not flying anywhere but time is flying by. This week has been hours and hours of writing. Fun but time goes by so fast when I'm writing the last chapters in a WIP. If things go well, I'll be typing The End within a few days.

In case you missed it, the new A to Z Blogging Challenge Team for 2015 was announced yesterday. I'm proud and a little intimidated to be one of those team members for the first time but also very excited. Expect me to encourage your participation when sign up time comes along in late January.

With my writing life so busy, I've been very particular about any hours I spend watching TV. The only show I even try to watch live is Once Upon a Time. Usually I catch up on demand of shows like Scorpion, Hell on Wheels, Person of Interest, Grimm and Sleepy Hollow. Add White Collar to that as that show starts its final season run of only 6 episodes. Doctor Who also will get my hour of time at some point. That averages out to about an hour per day so that's pretty good. The only new show that has caught my eye this year is Scorpion. I will add Hannibal to the list when it comes back on.

Wisdom for The Old Farmer's Almanac for this week:

People who live in big cities produce the most earwax.  Mmm. Noise or pollution, do you guess?

Hiccup cure: Sniff ground pepper to produce a sneeze.

Cold rice and cold tea are bearable, but cold looks and cold words are not. Japanese proverb

The wind from the northeast, neither good for man nor beast. For those of us suffering the Polar Vortex

I saw so many emotional videos and blog post honoring veterans this past week that this quote is for the comfort of all of us.
In valor there is hope.
Publius Cornelius Tacitus, Roman historian

I really have to make sure I get the same kind of planner next year. It really entertains me and is very roomy for me to scribble all my notes into. I'll be shopping for it as soon as the 2015 planners fill up the bookstores.

Good luck to all the NaNo participants as you reach halfway tomorrow. Go get 'em.

Do you use a planner? Do you have a favorite? Have a favorite cure for hiccups? Do you live in a big city and suffer earwax buildup? What are you working on in your writing?

Hi Susan - it rushes by ... tv time - not v good use of our lives really .. but we all watch it.

How appropriate the Japanese proverb is ... cold looks and cold words - not necessary at all ..

Halfway through NaNo ... ear wax - not nice ... hiccups we were as kids thrust over my father's knee and made to drink out of a mug backwards - cured the hiccups!

Cheers and good luck with the writing etc .. Hilary

So sneezing stops hiccups? I'll try that next time.

Congrats on being part of the 2015 A-Z Team!

I've gotten a little past the halfway mark on my NaNo project - so far, so good overall.

Good luck reaching "The End" on your WiP!

We're honored to have you on the A to Z Team! It should be a great year.

The year is flying by must faster than I care to see. But that's the way my life has been going too.

Congrats on getting so close to the end of another novel. Great feeling. And, yes, I'm suffering through the latest polar vortex. Finally got outside for a walk today, as it had warmed to a balmy 19 degrees. :)

Woo! Finishing up another project. Wow! I don't have time for TV any more. Not sure what I'm missing.

Have a great weekend!

I only have a handful of shows on my can't miss list - Gotham, Sleepy Hollow and Grimm. If I had HBO, I'd get much less writing done, lol

Great quote for Veterans' Day. There were many tearjerker posts, which touched home for many, I'm sure.

Good luck on the Challenge. I'm sure you'll be great :).

The only thing that's ever worked on hiccups for me is controlled breathing. I tried the pepper thing once and it didn't even make me sneeze!

This week did fly by. I didn't do much writing, but other life stuff made the week in the blink of an eye.

I do have a planner. I just get a cheaper weekly planner at my local dollar store. I'll be getting a new one for 2015. I still have my planners from 2012 and 2013. :)

My cure for hiccups...as soon as you get them drink a few gulps of water and stand very still, breathing slowly for about 30 seconds or so. That usually does it for me. :)

I am a fan of Franklin Planner, but truth be told, I am not as good at planning as I was a few years ago.

My kids have been seeking a cure for hiccups, but sniffing ground pepper until you sneeze? I'll just have to try that one next time!

Good for you for helping out with A-Z. It's a fine institution.

I'm going to be thinking about that ear wax thing - yet another reason for me to feel smug about living in the middle of nowhere.
