A partial list of things I had to do before writing this post: Register a copyright, send a cheery card to a sick friend, update CPRW membership list, do some Twitter and Facebook scheduling(Please follow me if you're not already), direct the boys in some trash removal, and renew my Pennwriters' membership.
Thing I have to do later this week: Have dinner with a friend I haven't seen for months, call and check on an ailing sibling, babysit my granddaughter on two occasions, make a date to have lunch with another friend, keep an eye on the guys doing some work on our pool, and DO SOME ACTUAL WRITING.
I didn't include all the housework things and outdoor chores. I think I'll take a nap now. Though in all serious, I almost never take a nap.
All these things will make the week go faster until next Sunday when Game of Thrones returns. Here's an interesting article about the world of Westeros and why they've never advanced as a society. If their history goes back 10,000 years, shouldn't they be a little more civilized? In the meantime, I have some GoT soundtrack playing in the background while writing this week.
I'm also going to check out two new shows starting this week. Will is a period piece about young William Shakespeare that is on Mondays on TNT. Salvation is a short running series on CBS about an asteroid heading for Earth and the people looking to stop the extinction of all life on Earth.
This article about copyrights came to my attention. I've never known any writers personally who had to go to court to protect their work, but all writers know about piracy. And we've heard stories about famous writers like JK Rowling facing questions.
Do you register your copyrights with the government? Is it money well spent? Are you ready for another disaster show about an asteroid? Why do you think Westeros is stuck in medieval times besides that it makes a good story? Do you take naps during the day?

So much busywork that eats up our day.
If I took a nap I'd be useless the rest of the day.
It's amazing that no matter how busy i seem to be, i never run out of things to do. My health the way it is now means i need naps, my schedule means i don't get them most of the time. We will see how long i can keep it up.
I've been trying to cut back on the "busywork" and prioritize. Way too many things on my To-Do list and most of them probably don't need to be there - the important things get lost.
My post today is about GoT! :)
I have to go back to work to today after a lovely week off :( No naps for me either or like Alex I'd be useless. Hope you get everything done!
I never bothered registering copyrights, don't think I'm that well known to be stolen from lol on the go can sure cut into writing time, but sounds like most will be time well spent. Are you sure it is just keep one eye on the pool boys? lol
I do take naps during the day. It's one of the only things I spoil myself with. They're not long, maybe 45 minutes, and I don't really sleep, just lay there to allow my back to straighten out. (I've had back issues for a couple of years.) But most of my honey-do list is done before I do lay down.
And no, I've never registered a copyright.
I've never watched Game of Thrones.
And if I watched a show about an asteroid slamming Earth, I wouldn't sleep for a month.
I am curious about Will, maybe I will try it when and if it comes on TV here. I don't actually think they know much about him, no-one is really sure if he wrote his plays or someone else did. Don't complain about being busy, these days I frequently find myself with nothing much to do and get bored with it.
I'd like to see Salvation too - but fitting in more TV rarely happens! :)
It's amazing how quickly those days disappear while we're doing our To Do lists!
The days and nights fill up faster and faster. I've cut my TV out as one way to catch up on my reading. Nighttime is my only time for doing any of that anymore. :-(
I know this all too well. I worker harder now being at home all day (with all of the chores that I have to do) than I ever did when I was in an office 40 hours a week.
I need naps often. It reminds me of that Jim Gaffigan joke: "Have you ever had so much to do that you just took a nap instead?"
I register all of my books with copyright.gov and make sure my authors do as well.
Actual writing - what is that? LOL
You are certainly busy. Babysitting the granddaughter should be fun, though. Hope the week goes well for you.
I'll only see the new series if hubby might be interested in them (he "owns" the remote here; I have limited say in what we watch, though I will step up and say I might be interested in this and that and then he'll usually like it, for example, Zoo made more sense last week so now we'll finish the season; it was my suggestion we start watching it when it first came out). I used to take a 2 hour nap on Sunday afternoons; now I'm lucky if it is a 15 minute "power" one. I do get the things done except when my schedule goes off schedule then its hard to regroup and get it all done. Eventually it does somewhat balance out. I refuse to call myself old, though I might just be :)
betty
Sometimes in our lives there are not enough hours in the day to achieve what needs to be done, however at present I have too much time as my lonely existence seems I have less to do. Once I get myself sorted I hope all will be well.
Yvonne.
My problem with scheduling is that I do too much relaxing -- I think it comes with being older and wiser. All those attempts to multi-task and be a superstar were exhausting. And yes, I do take naps. I don't sleep well at night and I get up very early (thanks to Katie Cat) so I need that extra snooze around mid-day.
You are a busy woman! I know the feeling, though. I'd like to take more naps myself, but summer doesn't give me the time for it. So excited for the new season of GoT! I think a society that has magic might not tend to forward itself toward technology.
When I self-published Lightning Crimes, I did register copyright through the government and I actually just got the certificate! It makes me feel proud yuo have it, and to be smart. :)
I'm always up for a story about a deadly asteroid! :) I love that kind of plot, though I don't think I'll ever write one myself. You never know, I guess.
I haven't thought about registering copyright - I'm not sure what the cost would be but I'd probably look into it once published.
I have copyrighted a couple of things, just to be safe. Probably not necessary. If someone copied my ideas, how would I ever know in the vastness of the internet?
Hi Susan - I haven't got to the copyright stage - but mentally keep a note. Lots going on and there are a lot of things that waste time, some necessary such as day to day life, but some if I got organised would make my life simpler ... good luck - cheers Hilary
Naps? I didn't used to take them, but at almost 8 months pregnant, you'd better bet I do now. ;)
You know, some weeks are just like that. I also think the more we learn to manage, the more valuable we are as human beings. So there you go: you're just upping your value this week.
Things always like to pop up in my life and it's like 'crap, more to get done.'
The days and nights fill up faster and faster. I've cut my TV out as one way to catch up on my reading. Nighttime is my only time for doing any of that anymore. :-(
