Busy Weekend Ahead

It's a very writerly weekend for me. Tina Crone, one of those talented Pennwriters I'm lucky to know, arranged a booksigning at the wonderful Midtown Scholar Bookstore in Harrisburg, PA. I'll be signing The Keepers of Sulbreth and my romance novels.

The Midtown Scholar carries new books and supports local authors but they also carry a large selection of used books.  The used books are not for the casual reader of genre fiction but rather a sprawling collection of books from decades and even centuries ago.  I've added a few of their old volumes to my keeper shelves.  One can browse for hours in their fiction and then drift downstairs to the nonfiction areas. Once you gather an armful of books to puruse, grab a great drink or snack from the coffee bar and climb the open stairway to the second floor and the comfy sofas that overlook 2nd street. It's really lovely.  Lots of customers move through the store though I don't expect tons of sales. It's always fun to talk to other book lovers.

Also on Saturday, TBR blog, started by Cate Masters, will feature a blurb fest where romance authors can post a promotion and links for one of their romance novels.  A few weeks ago, TBR hosted fantasy authors and it had lots of comments and visits. I'm hopeful it will be as successful this time.

Will you be doing work or having fun this weekend? Do you have Monday off for President's day? Are you shopping for some new reads online?

We'll be seeing some movies this weekend. That's about it. Its a four day weekend but we'll stay local and not do any traveling.

Looking forward to the booksigning with you, Susan. And thanks for the shoutout for TBR's blurb fest, should be fun.

For once, I will be off this weekend ... if I survive driving strange detours for miles in the blinding rain as a rare blood courier. My hero, Victor Standish, hopes I survive ... to get him out of the jam I have written him into! Roland

I love that you call it your keeper shelf. That's great.

Hope to hear all about your adventures this weekend.

And yeppers, I requested off from work for three days so I can enjoy them with Hubby.

Cheers and boogie boogie.

Good luck with your signing! That sounds like a phenomenal bookstore. There are a few around here I haven't had the chance to check out yet.

This weekend I don't foresee much writing/editing time, but I will be attending a writer's meeting tomorrow that should be interesting, then some fun.

Have a wonderful writerly weekend!

I wish I could come to the signing - sounds like an amazing place. Shame I live in the UK!
I was at my day-job today, but definitely plan on getting a couple of short stories written tomorrow.
I've just bought 'Fire's Daughter' by Wendy Tyler Ryan for my kindle - looking forward to it!

Have fun at your book signing! I can't imagine how much fun that must be. As for my weekend, that was yesterday! My husband's schedule is weird, so I'm never sure when we'll actually have it.

Man! I can't believe I missed this, Sue. In my own defense, I'm home sick and have had no voice for three days.

But I look forward to your signings. Can you tell I'm whining?

I hope it went well and you had lots of fun.

If I'm ever in Harrisburg I will have to check out this bookstore, which based on your description sounds like a great place.

I hope the event is a huge success!
