Coffee Hop

If you don't frequent the blog of Michael Di Gesu you are missing out. Besides being one of the kindest, most generous bloggers I've met in my writing life, he also entertaining and creative. His latest creative endeavor, The Coffee Blog Hop, fits right into one of my favorite things. COFFEE!

Late last night, I finished the final read through of the galleys for The Marine's Heiress, due to be released shortly. Time was critical as my publisher was running a bit behind. Coffee helped me through it. But Michael's idea for the hop called for bloggers to share a story about coffee. I'm sure there will be a lot of amusing and entertaining stories related to coffee but this wondrous group but I really can't think of a specific coffee story.

I will share a few lines about my coffee history. In my pre-writer life, I was a PE teacher. That meant I spent a lot of time outdoors in the cold and damp. I wasn't a coffee drinker going into that career though I chipped into the coffee fund for the lounge. I started getting cups of hot coffee during my planning period just to wrap my hands around a hot cup. At some point I started sipping it and that led me to today when I drink it every day. Probably the only extended time when I've given up coffee since those early days was during my four pregnancies and the months I nursed my children after their births. It was torture during that time to smell that wonderful brew but deny my love. I've never had a cup of decaf, now or then. I'm one of those people who can drink coffee at 10 pm and still fall asleep at eleven.

Thanks, Michael, for this chance to write and read about my favorite all day, any weather beverage. Michael is giving out a special, delicious prize. Check out the rest of the participants and that prize.

Coffee and me get along very well. Good luck in the draw, Susan!

I have tried decaf, but I didn't care for it all that much. So you aren't missing anything!

Good luck, Susan. I still couldn't drink it even on cold days. Just never acquired a taste for it.

Hi, Susan. I'd be awake all night if I drank coffee that late in the day. : )

Love coffee but I try to limit how much I drink. Usually only two cups a day and one is sometimes half-caffeinated. Can't go all decaf but half works for me. :)

Coffee is a wonderful hand warmer isn't it?

My coffee journey started like that. I worked auto salvage many years ago, and 7am on a cold winter morning, nothing was better than a warm cup of coffee.

Unfortunately, coffee keeps me up at night these days, so my morning coffee has to suffice. I do miss my evening coffee sometimes, but never enough to stay awake all night for it.

If coffee tasted as good as it smelled, I would be hooked. But it doesn't, and it coats the teeth and the inside of your mouth. So I am a hot tea man. Have a fun day!

Nice how you can drink it and still sleep, never liked the stuff much myself

Thank you! I'm exactly like that too. It does not matter what time I have caffeine, I can always fall asleep, yet I cannot function without it. LOL

I'm usually a one cup a day person, but today's the exception. This hop has sent me back to the pot three times! I'll never recover!

I can't drink coffee past dinner, I'm up all night. My husband can drink all day and night like you and sleep like a rock.

Heh, funny how coffee gradually pulled you in! I'm incredibly picky, so I never understood the appeal of it, to be honest...

Hi, Susan...

Thanks for sharing your COFFEE story with us! And also for the very sweet intro. I'm really humbled.

I'm like you... I can even fall asleep while on the couch with my coffee closely by my side.

So glad everyone is having such a good time today.

All the best with your edits!

Hope to see you Monday when I announce the winner!

That is quite honestly the best story of how someone first began drinking... using? ... coffee that I have ever heard.

Yeah, I can drink coffee at night and fall asleep just fine too. What's up with us?

I still don't drink coffee. I love the smell but find the taste horrid. My hubby and kids disagree :) Chai tea is my addiction :)

It's funny how we all have ways of getting sucked in to the coffee life. I used it for studying in college and also have always associated coffee with writing. It's just so yummy!

Coffee ALWAYS helps. :)

I miss coffee so much! I give it up while pregnant and nursing, too. How much longer now???

Happy weekend!

I love the smell of coffee, and I even like to eat Coffee Crisp (a chocolate bar), but I cannot drink anything hot. That includes tea and soup. Strange, I know.

Have a great weekend!

Work was the place I picked up my taste for coffee too. It was the only free drink in the office!

I've been a coffee lover since I was 16, and drank it white and sweet!

Decaff is a dirty word ;)

I like the blog hop theme - coffee lovers of the world, unite and jitter as one!
