Good Bye 14

It was a very good year. I wrote four complete science fiction romance novels (all around 80K) in 2014 and received contracts for all of them. One of them turned into my bestselling book ever. I found a publisher to reissue my first epic fantasy series and I polished up the second book in my other fantasy series and that publisher contracted it for a 2015 release.

I was part of the IWSG Guide to Publishing and Beyond book venture. It was an amazing experience and a super reference book was borne from it. It's free if you haven't downloaded your copy yet.

I was asked to be secretary of the state-wide writers' organization I belong to. Don't know all the duties involved yet, but I'm excited to be part of it.

The A to Z Blogging Challenge is going to be great again this year. And for the first time, I'll be one of the administrators of the biggest deal in the blogging world. It's giving the word challenge an entirely larger meaning for me. Hope I survive.

My plans for this year is to write at least four more books and if I can, a fifth one also. I'm also committed to keeping my blog active but have accepted how much time it takes. One of the things I will be doing is having more guests here on my blog and paying some visits to others. Most of my guests will appear on Fridays. I'm excited about the great information these experienced authors and industry professionals will be sharing with my readers.

"I never think of the future. It comes soon enough." Albert Einstein

But unlike that brilliant guy, most of us do think about the future in so many personal and professional ways. In the next two months I'll be talking about some new releases and hopefully getting a lot of writing done.

Was 2014 a good year for you? Are you thinking about the future or are you in Albert's camp? What is your greatest challenge coming up in the next year?

Hi Susan - you've been busy and now are adding interesting new experiences into the mix .. that's great.

Each second is the future isn't it .. frightening if we think of it that way .. Have a very happy 2015 ahead ... cheers Hilary

4 books a year is amazing. There aren't many writers that can do that.

I hope 2015 is just as productive and happy for you. (And I hope your daughter comes home soon.)

Ah, the insanity of the Challenge from the other side...
You struck it big with science fiction romance. Keep writing them.
And thanks again for being an awesome part of the IWSG admin team. Happy New Year!

Hi, Susan,

WOW, Congrats on your best seller! 2014 was a good year for you!

ALL the best in the coming new year!

As for me, I plan on jumping back into my writing again. This past year was all about design work for me (gotta make a living, right?) But now that my condo has sold, I can breathe again. SO I can take some time to focus on my writing.

I am all signed up for the SCBWI conference in NYC next month and I can't wait! I am hoping to find a home for my second novel. I just may meet the right agent. I'm hopeful anyway.

I also plan to move back to NY by the end of the year. NY is home for me and I need to get back. Twenty years aways is far too long!

Thrilled for you, Susan. Your life in 2014 was indeed an adventure. Looking forward to all the brand new things you'll experience and accomplish. I'm not setting any major goals because that's the future and I'd like to stay grounded in the now. Hope 2015 gives you new dreams and new adventures.
