Big Book Event

This ninety degree day seems like a good time to bring up one the big snowstorms we had way back last December. Like so many of the durn things, it was over a weekend and didn't even have the decency to get us off of a day of school. It also canceled a big local authors event at the Midtown Scholar Bookstore.  Catherine Lawrence has gathered loads of local talent and organized a great literary showcase. There's too much going on Saturday and Sunday for me to list it all so go here and read all about it. If you're local, I hope you'll stop in. If you're not local but someday you pass through Harrisburg, PA, I hope you'll stop in and give this independent book shop your patronage. Great times, wonderful people.
I'll be there selling my books, romance and fantasy. Hope we have some nice weather and big crowds. Do you shop at any independent bookstores?

I'm too far away - but I hope everything goes off well for you! Sounds like a fun event :)

The only independent bookstores that I know of within 10 miles of my house are Spanish bookstores and I don't go to them. I have a Borders across the street from my house so I usually go there if I go to a bookstore, but most of my books are purchased on-line.

I think I know which snowstorm you are talking about. My daughter got married on Dec 19 in New Jersey on the day of a record snowstorm. We were amazed that nearly everyone showed up.

Hope you sell lots of books!

There used to be an independent bookstore nearby, but it closed about two years ago. Now the closest bookstore is a B&N.

Arlee, you're so lucky to have the Borders but too bad you don't have an independent store near you. They have so much atmosphere and genuine love of books to share. Thanks, Jemi and Helen, I only sold a few books but I did lots of networking with other writers and readers.
