This Time of Year

I hate the cold. I hate getting out of a warm bed in the morning. Like many of you, I'm sure, I keep my house in general on the cool side to save energy costs and the bedroom is a little frosty in the mornings.  But...there's always on of those...I do get a lot of writing done in the winter because I stay indoors as much as possible.

My editor at New Concepts Publishing shocked me yesterday with the return of my manuscript with all the first edits done and ready for me to go through again. I wasn't expecting it until next month. Guess that makes my plans for this weekend pretty solid. And the temperatures are going to dip again so it's inside for me.

But next year at this time, I hope to take a mini vacation/writing retreat of sorts to a warm weather location and do some writing in the sunshine. Did I mention I hate the cold? I'm  not a huge fan of the beach because the ocean is so durn noisy and so are the people lounging about there. But early morning walks and digging my toes into the sand sound pretty good right now.

We had a little snow for Christmas and that's enough for me. I'm ready for a little warm weather and outdoor exercise.

So this weekend, I'll be watching some Dr. Who and editing a manuscript for what feels like the 1000th time. I'll also be wishing for warmer weather.

What are your plans for the weekend? Is winter dragging on for you or you one of those cold weather fiends? Are you keeping your house cooler than you used to?

Our winter should last another few weeks and I can start planting again.

Dr. Who sounds like a good idea. I've become totally addicted.

I'm missing summer and not looking forward to the dropping temps. We had some more snow the other day but then it melted a little and now it's frozen and hard. Winter is not my favorite time of year.

I have a book formatting job to finish and guest posts to complete for my tour.

My husband was SO disappointed when I told him there was no snow this morning. He wanted to stay in bed.

I always get a kick out of weather maps like that. I think the temperatures around here will actually get above freezing this weekend so I might actually go outside. For a couple of minutes anyway.

Love that weather map.

Winter isn't my favorite season but I still look forward to it. It's the change of season I enjoy. We lived in southern California for six years and I hated it. Where's the excitement of new buds in spring when everything stays green year round?

This weekend? A couple grandkids' INDOOR sporting events and hopefully some writing time.

No, I'd like to see some snow. Any snow!
Sunday it's all about the football. Only two more weekends remaining.

I'm a bit of a cold weather fiend--I really don't mind snow and chilly temperatures. So long as they're not in April or something like that . . .

Hahaha! Thanks for the humor. A great way to end the weekend. Fortunately, I have a bottle of wine stashed just in case.

We got a whole centimetre of snow yesterday and had to leave work early because the buses stopped running. Not that I'm complaining... ;-)

My bedroom is especially cold. I turn up the heat 2 degrees overnight and turn it down in the morning.

I think walking on the beach in the winter sounds fantastic!!

I used to love the cold weather. I'd hibernate and do a lot of writing. Nowadays, with a kid, I'm getting cabin fever. I need to get out of the house! We keep our house at 69 degrees. That one degree difference from 70 makes a noticeable difference on the bill each month.

That map always makes me laugh. I get more done in winter, too. So long as our wood stove holds out, we can weather most storms. :)
Congrats on getting your edits back so soon! Hope you plowed through them.

Winter is okay here. Cold but the sun was out a lot today and I fancy that.

And even though I like a good bit of snow, I'm excited to get to spring and start growing my herb garden.

Cheers to you :-)
