Today is my husband's birthday. Not sure what festivities will ensue but I suspect my sons will take him out for a round of golf. In keeping with the writing focus on this blog, let me combine a post about him and my writing.
This business of writing requires a lot of time. When I was teaching full time, my writing took up many hours of my evenings and weekends. My husband watched a lot of baseball and basketball games alone. Mostly without complaint.
He listens to my success stories, read reviews and cheers me on through thick and thin. He brags about my books to everyone he can manage to bring the subject up to. I have to name him my number one fan.
No one can succeed in this business without support of family or friends. I'm fortunate to have both. Today I'm going to thank my husband, again, for supporting me.
Who is your support in your writing career? Do you give up some family time to write or squeeze it in in other ways?

I'm not sure you can have a successful career without family support--even if it's just staying out of the way while you're working.
I never had to give up family time though. Hubby lives 300 miles away (at least until next July). As a matter of fact, I started writing because I was alone so often.
Time will tell what kind of adjustments we'll have to make once he moves back. :)
Well, I do believe people can succeed in this business without support. That being said, I feel very happy to have my husband by my side, he's a great guy who just rocks my world.
Cheers to you and Happy Birthday to your Hubby. Hope the golf is fun and that you have a groovy weekend as well.
Boogie boogie.
Congratulations on having an awesome partner, Susan--it's a blessing :) Like yours, mine is also my #1 fan. He's the one that makes me believe when everything seems so colorless. Like the Happy Whisk says, I agree support isn't instrumental to success as an author, but it does make for a happier journey :) Happy birthday to your husband!
My husband is my best friend, and he's my biggest fan and greatest supporter. I am truly grateful to have him in my corner. :)
Happy birthday to your model mate! I have one too and they are more priceless than jewels
It's great that your husband has been so supportive of your writing. It would have been a much harder go had he not felt that way. Does that mean you wouldn't have done it? I don't know. I think people who need to write end up writing, but they are much happier if they have the support of their closest family and friends.
Happy birthday to your husband!
Family support is so important. My wife is definitely my biggest fan. She's gone without me for many an evening as well.
Make sure your husband has a wonderful birthday.
My husband has been so supportive and patient. Sometimes not so patient, but when that happens I know it's my fault.
Happy Birthday to your husband! Mine is my biggest cheerleader and my harshest critic. He puts up with all the time I take from our family, but I know not to push it too much.
You are lucky indeed to have such a sweet supportive husband. I've given up television. It's amazing how much more time I have to write.
Happy b-day to your hubby!! He sounds awesome. Have to say I'm very lucky in the supportive hubby department too :)
Happy birthday to my husband! Mr TR is such a wonderful support for me - I'm lucky to have him! Except when he cracks his toes. ARGH.
Whoops - YOUR husband! Mine is having a birthday next week, so I guess that's a Freudian slip. :)
Happy birthday Mr. Gourley! What a great Sue supporter! :)
Happy Belated Birthday to your husband! So happy you have a number one fan! He sounds like a winner.
