So Much to Say

IWSG Anthology
The results are in. You voted for your preferred genre for the next IWSG anthology and it is..... Fantasy!  I'm super excited about it. Fantasy is my first love for writing and reading. I expect the members will make the competition as amazing as last time with some terrific writing. More information will be coming at the start of September.

Heart Stopper and Other Stories  By Tamara Narayan
One collection, four stories, 171 pages of suspense...

Heart Stopper: The disappearance of random household items baffles Dallas Radner and his eleven-year-old daughter, Tessa. Ten plastic bags, nine ballpoint pens . . . what's next? This odd countdown should end on November 1, The Day of the Dead. That's also Tessa's birthday and the one-year anniversary of her surgery, the day her heart stopped on the operating table.
Dallas almost lost Tessa once. On November 1, one thing will vanish forever. Will it be his daughter?

Detour: Fed up with her abusive boyfriend, coed Chloe Langley takes off in a borrowed car for the safety of home. She'll never make it.
One Step Away: Acrophobia has ruined Darryl James's marriage and stolen his son. To get Andrew back, Darryl undergoes desensitization therapy. Just as success is within his grasp, a relapse occurs with shocking consequences.
Monitor: Perched on a mountain with a view to die for, Laura and Paul Alderson have it all: new house, new baby, and new challenges. But urgent whispers from the baby monitor about her infant son and the garage threaten to turn Laura's American dream into a nightmare.

Available on Amazon ($2.99)

Anthology on Aging
Karen Walker, a member of IWSG, is putting together an anthology on aging. It sounds very interesting and you can be part of it. Read her post from last week's IWSG and get the details. Of course, you have to of a certain age. I am, unfortunately, plenty old enough so I'm thinking about this. Just another example of the great things you find on IWSG days.

Prime Day
Once again, Amazon is having it's day of special deals for Prime members. I'll probably look around a little but I don't really expect to buy anything. First because there's nothing I really want to purchase and second because the deals weren't that great last year in my opinion. Perhaps it was just that I didn't want anything they had.

I don't do politics on this blog or any social media, but this past week has left most sane people reeling with dismay, grief and a feeling of helplessness at the craziness all over the country and the world. So a quote about that.

Will you shop Amazon on Prime Day? Do you have some interesting thoughts on aging? Are you excited for writing some fantasy stories for the IWSG anthology? How about Tamara's Heartstopper? Sounding pretty spooky.

Fantasy is a favorite genre of mine. We're going to get some cool entries.
Big congratulations to Tamara!

My post is about Amazon today. They really dropped the ball last year and they know it.

I'm hoping this year will be better. We'll see.

I voted for Horror - I know, big surprise! - but I might try my hand at a fantasy story.

Yeh for Tamara!

That is a wonderful quote, Susan. Thanks for sharing it.

I'm seriously thinking about the IWSG anthology... Tamara's stories sound frightening, indeed. I'd didn't know about Prime Day and may check it out. LOVE the quote from Gandalf.

I've seen the advertisements for Prime Day, so I will have to stop by and see what all the hub-bub is about. Fantasy will be a challenge for me, especially for a short story. Will previous winners of the IWSG anthology contest even be eligible?

All the recent big news stories on shooting are terrible, but I don't have any answers. Doesn't seem like people are willing to give up their guns here.

And thank you for featuring my book. I actually got my first review! Exciting times.

Heartstopper sounds fabulous! :)
I've never submitted for an anthology - or written shorts! - but this one sounds intriguing! Maybe... :)

I love what Tamara did with the cover.

I'm sure we'll be ordering something on Prime day.

I liked that quote. It is a good one to remember. I'll have to check out the Anthology of Aging; I'm sure I would fit in the category to participate in it too.

I'm not a Prime Member so I won't be taking part in Prime Day.

I love sugar skulls and adore Tamara's cover!

I'll probably forget Prime Day is a thing and miss it. LOL

It's hard to step into the fray and express an opinion about what's going on around us.

No to Amazon Prime day, and aging ain't for sissies, that's my story and i'm sticking to it!

Heartstopper sounds really good. And I'm not a Prime member, so I guess no deals for me. Although I don't think I'd find anything good anyway.

Thank you for that quote. I was definitely reeling - partly because it just felt like one long string of painful events this year.
Congrats to Tamara!!!

I have to avoid Amazon Prime Day like the plague. I've been de-cluttering and cleaning out, so shopping would be counter-productive.

I'm going to check out Karen's anthology as well. I'm old enough to participate. :D

I've never written fantasy but it sounds like fun. Maybe I'll be inspired to have a go at writing in this genre by September. Thanks for all the news. Great post.

A very apt and heartening quote.

Fantasy is one of my fav genres to read, this one is going to be another antho to look forward to. I'd fit into the ageing antho very neatly too (sigh).

Drats, I'm not a prime member. I did take a peek at some of the deals. Amazing. Thanks, Susan. Happy Belated IWSG Day.

This quote is perfect, helpful to keep in mind, especially considering the current socio-political environment here in US.

Love the theme for the anthology! Can't wait to write something for the fantasy theme....

Heartstopper sounds like an intriguing anthology. So cool that so many anthologies are coming out. One of my short stories is coming out next month in The Thing That Turned Me anthology....

I hope to have a worthy submission to Karen Walker's anthology on aging. I have learned a great deal over the past few decades that may be helpful to others.

I agree with you on the Prime deals. I bought a few things last week and those prices were around the same as the deals they are offering on Prime.

I voted for fantasy too. Now I'll just have to start thinking up a story to submit.

I avoid Prime Day because I already have too much stuff. Honestly, as I am getting older I truly wonder if I' going to last long enough to make good use of it all.

I love some good fantasy! Looking forward to it.

I browsed on Prime Day, saw nothing but junk or bad deals, and then just ordered the few things I was going to buy anyway and called it a day. Next year I don't think I'm even going to bother. All hype, nothing I really need.

I just got rid of 90 percent of my stuff which includes kitchen. So the only thing I wanted from Prime Day was a deal on organic prunes. Which they didn't have. But ... Tim found a killer deal a few days ago, so bonus.

Otherwise, I had no interest.

Happy Summer!
