IWSG: March 2020

I can't believe it's been a month since my last post, but it's the first Wednesday of a new month and that means IWSG blog hop. Thanks to Alex J. Cavanaugh, this vibrant group on this list support each other not just once a month but whenever called upon.

I'm skipping this month's question since I only had the simple answer of 'no.' Instead, I'm going to whine about a major distraction interfering with my work on my newest project. Except I can't yet. It's too secret. LOL  I'll fill you in next month.

In the meantime, I'm working on the outline for the last book in my fantasy series and ready to search out a publisher willing to take on a series that has already had the first book published and then unpublished when the small press closed. I've decided if I don't find a publisher by the time I complete the last book, I will self-publish. Something I didn't want to do, but will.

"Perseverance is failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th." Julie Andrews

In the meantime, a special shout-out to my friend, Jo, for help she's been giving me. And not just advice from my Insta Pot.

My granddaughter turned 3 yesterday. It goes so fast. She is so much fun and exhausting for her old grandmother. The best use of my time is spending it with her.

TV is so boring.... But Supernatural is back on soon. What else is there to watch. I tried a few shows on Netflix and Amazon. Couldn't get into any of them. This is giving me lots of time to read and work on that distraction. I'm rewatching Stargate Atlantis on Amazon for now. I loved that show when it was on. More than the original.

The unusually warm weather is making me anxious for spring. The bulbs are all sprouting already so I guess it's well on its way. I don't miss the snow and cold, but I did think I would get to sled ride and build snowmen with my granddaughter a little. She did learn the joy of throwing snowballs at me this season.

"The glow of one warm thought is to me worth more than money." Thomas Jefferson

Have you had a warm winter? Any thing good on Netflix or Amazon? How is the writing going? Are you going to any conferences or other traveling or is the coronavirus interfering? I've heard of things being canceled or put on hold.

We are always behind the times with TV watching, but we just finished the last season of The Crown and are now watching Sanditon. I quite like it.

Locke and Key on Netflix had my attention. And, completely different, so did The Stranger. Very good.

I'll echo DRC's comment above - only watched a few episodes so far of Locke and Key but enjoying it so far. Looking forward to Prodigal Son coming back on soon.

Good luck with the your writing projects! And intrigued by the secret distraction..... :)

Everything here is blooming and way early.

We've been going through a lot of animal specials on the various channels.

Best of luck with the publisher hunt. My wife liked Locke and Key but I couldn't get into it so much. We watched some Black Mirror. Lot of them that we haven't seen.

Loved Stargate: Atlantis! Bummed it only ran five seasons.

Stargate Atlantis is one of my faves as well!
Hope you find a publisher!!
We've still got lots and lots of snow, but this was the mildest winter we've ever had.

I'm in a similar situation in that the boutique press I was with closed. I'm self-publishing my back list while subbing out new material. Our winter here in the Smoky Mountains has been warmer than normal, but we've been inundated with rain until I think we're going to need an ark. Thanks for sharing today!

We just started watching the Crown because we couldn't find anything good to watch. Glad we did. It's fascinating. I'm surprised by how much I didn't know about our Queen. Now I'm wondering how much creative licence the writers took.

Congrats! and can't wait to learn more about 'the surprise'.

I haven't found much to watch either and have been wondering if re-watching Buffy or Angel might be in my near future. :-)

Have you considered or looked in to submitting to Dancing Lemur Press?

Can't wait to hear about your secret. Have you tried The Stranger on Netflix? I just started it. Also Key and Locke (or Locke and Key) on Netflix was good.

May whatever is causing the ruckus stop soon!

PBS is pretty much our go-to channel, that and local news. We (husband and I) are big readers (not surprising) and I have tons of craft ideas that I sometimes get to. So distractions including the internet abound. :)

Wow, three already. I remember when you first told us about her :). Time really does fly.

I haven't found anything good on Netflix for a while. It feels like their quality has really gone downhill lately.

Not a warm winter, but not the coldest either. Good luck on your book, and can't say there's much going on in the streaming world right now, that I haven't already watched. :)

A secret, huh?? Guess I'll have to be sure to read next month's post!!

Stargate Atlantis is a great show indeed. Yeah, not much seems to be on worth watching. Spending time with the kiddo is always a win.

Wow, can't believe your granddaughter is 3 already! You are right, they are a ball of energy at that age but so much fun to be around! I started watching Love is Blind on Netflix. Someone at work mentioned it and I need something mindless these days with learning a new job so its the perfect thing to entertain but not go to deep LOL :) Looking forward to what you share next month!

TV is boring. I much prefer reading. I joined Kindle Unlimited so I can get my books for free (after the monthly fee) because I seem to be reading more than usual!

I love StarGate Atlantis I rewatched it many times.

Jo is the best. Good luck with your secret project and on finding a publisher.

I liked Mind Hunters.

Save my blushes you guys. As for helping you Susan, I love reading your books so I am glad to assist where I can. We had lots of snow here, you could have made snowmen and done sledding here - and still could I guess. Hoping it will all disappear soon.

I'll have to look at Stargate Atlantis or Supernatural. I haven't had a good show to watch in awhile. I enjoyed A Good Fight when it was on. The show Evil was quite good which surprised me.

Hello Susan, happy birthday to your granddaughter! I am grounded at home due to the current corona sitch and glued onto watching continuum. Schools have been closed and I am worried of the parents having to deal with the children getting equally bored at home with them! Wishing you good health, stay safe, keep writing.
