Something New

It's that time of year. The plans are in the works for the next IWSG anthology. This year, we're sharing some of the planning with all the members. IWSG members can vote on what genre they'd like the next anthology to be. Starting today, you can vote right here.

Another thing we're starting in July, is offering a question you can chose to use for your monthly post. Sometimes you have lots of ideas on what to share but there are other times when you might not have anything to share. Hence, the question to use or not to use. So here's an early heads up for July's question.

JULY 6TH QUESTION: What's the best thing someone has ever said about your writing?

Add this question and your answer to your July 6th IWSG Day post. And please visit other members to read their answers.

If you’re not signed up on IWSG, please join HERE.

One of my earlier posts talk about too much coffee but for the lovers of the bean, here's some good news. The steam rising from a cup of coffee contains the same amount of antioxidants as three oranges. So even if you don't like the taste of coffee, lean over a cup and enjoy the smell.

I probably won't post on Monday, July 4th, but I'll be back for July 6th and IWSG. Hope those of you in the States have a safe holiday. We'll be doing the cookout if they weather cooperates and probably play some lawn games like we usually do when everyone is together. The boys never tire of trying to beat each other. I hope to catch up on some reading. I bought Michael J. Sullivan's latest, Age of Myth. If you didn't see his post on IWSG, please check it out now. He shared some great tips for getting your writing career going.

What genre would you like to see for the anthology? Doing anything special for the 4th? Do you let the steam from your coffee drift across your face?

Never knew that about the steam from the coffee. That is a neat way to pick the genre of the next one indeed.

Still not sure I want to sniff the coffee.
Enjoy your Fourth. I'll be offline as well.
Now vote, people!

Have a great 4th. For us it's Canada Day on the 1st of course.

I love the smell of coffee! I also like to drink it. My husband, on the other hand, enjoys the scent but only drinks iced, not hot, coffee. Yeah, we're an odd kind of household. :)

Enjoy the weekend!

We're going to a beach firework display for the 4th. It's a cozy setting in a small community with a park nearby and great food. We'll use glow sticks and eat our annual 4th of July treats and enjoy an awesome show. Just talking about it makes me excited.

I've already voted :) I love the smell of coffee as well as drinking it. Wishing you a great 4th July.

My coffee's never hot enough for steam.

We still don't know what we're doing for the 4th.

Funny, because I don't enjoy the taste of coffee but I do like the smell...

I have this huge cup I bought at a thrift shop that I use for my coffee. Since I use half and half, I call it breakfast. Sometimes I boil an egg to go with it. So my antioxidants are pretty good from coffee. I remember ten, twenty years ago, they said don't drink coffee. I'm glad I didn't listen.
Have a fun fourth. For two of my dog's sake, I hope no one shoots too many firecrackers near us.

This is great news! I love coffee, so I inhale the aroma and drink the stuff as well.

We prefer to chill on holiday weekends and avoid traffic and crowds (getting old and cranky, I think). I'll go to the Farmer's Market on Saturday, then binge watch the latest season of "Orange is the New Black" all weekend. And I'll make homemade potato salad to enjoy on the 4th with my hubby's favorite: Honey-Baked Ham.

Usually i'm too busy trying to get the coffee in so i can wake up to spend a whole lot of time inhaling the steam, but i will stop and take a good, deep whiff!

Enjoy your 4th!

I love that IWSG is adding questions. And that's a good starting question. Almost makes it worth joining. Almost. Ironically, tomorrow we're posting about the exact opposite - worst things ever said about your writing.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go huff a pot of coffee.

I'm a coffee fanatic and lately I have started using the cold brew method overnight so I can have iced coffee in the morning. I plan to spend this holiday reading on my back porch!

I don't drink coffee, but I do like the smell. Now I'll really inhale! We recently got a badminton set and the whole family is enjoying it. I need to go vote for the new IWSG genre.

A reader once emailed to tell me she sometimes read my posts to her girlfriends. I don't know if it was true, but I liked the idea. As for books - Jack London was the first book I got into. I still have my copy of Call of the Wild" from back in the day.
