Super!

All kind of great things from the past week. This past Saturday was my birthday. Five of six children filled the house for a little celebration. Food and then more food. Thoughtful gifts and joyful company. The missing son and his wife visited on Sunday with more of the same. I'm so lucky. My youngest son took me to the movies as a gift. We saw Dr. Strange, which was great. But how could anyone watch that in 3D? Wow. I got a little dizzy on a regular screen.

"The best smell is bread; the best savor is salt; the best love, that of children." George Herbert

I hope you have a chance to see the Supermoon. The Full Beaver moon is going to be bright and close by. If you don't know what a supermoon is, read about it here

This is the closest and brightest a full moon will be since 1948 and it won't occur again until 2034.

As part of my birthday celebration, my husband and I are going out of town for a few days. Both of us can't wait to spend time doing nothing but whatever we want.

Another book signing next Sunday, the last of 2016. So far this year, I've had pretty good success at signings but it's like writing itself. Don't count on a great hourly rate.

Though the election is finally over, the country seems more divided than ever. I think we need to think of people as individuals. Treat people with kindness and stop judging people with such broad strokes. If you voted for Trump, it doesn't mean you're a bigot, racist or sexist idiot. If you voted for Clinton, it doesn't mean you're a liar or person looking for freebie government handouts. Because the government and media say we are a country divided, it doesn't mean we have to agree or act in such a way. Reach out and bring America together again.

"It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult." Seneca

Next week, it will be all about thinking about Thanksgiving. Can't believe it's almost that time. Now I have to go pack.

What do you think you're hourly rate is as a writer? Are you going to check out that Supermoon? Does 3-D movies mess with your head?

Hi Susan - sounds like a fabulous birthday ... and the celebrations extend - just enjoy, which I know you will.

Supermoon - if the cloud clears ... my eyes are set to see it ... but I will write about it at some stage soon ...

Let us all be thankful for what we have ... cheers Hilary

Happy birthday!
Yes, we did catch the supermoon.
The media likes to fuel the fire. Like what you said about people generalizing.

Best of luck with your signing. I have my first event of the year (I've been royally slacking.) coming up next month, and I am terrified. It's been too long.

Happy Birthday!

Happy belated birthday! Enjoy your mini holiday.

re: 3D
Can not and will not watch 3D. It gives me a headache for the rest of the night. Not worth it.

Happy birthday and enjoy your few days away. Yeah, can't listen to the stupid media so much. haha sadly, hourly rates are rather slim in writing.

Happy belated birthday! Enjoy your few days away. :) I saw Doctor Strange on Friday, and I agree. I can't see how anyone could watch that in 3D!

The last movie I saw in 3-D might have been Avatar. It looked amazing, but movies in general tend to give me headaches, so I usually opt for the regular type so I can easily wear my sunglasses. (The contrast of bright movie in dark theater is a migraine trigger, so sunglasses fix that.)

I wonder if people will think twice before believing in what they hear through the media. This should be a wake-up call for folks to consider other sources before making up their minds on something.

Belated happy birthday! Sounds as if you had a great celebration. I drove home under that moon last night, and what a light it gives.

Happy Birthday, Susan! Love hearing how wonderful your birthday was. What a nice son to take you to the movies. We didn't get to see the moon because of the clouds, but tonight should be clear. I'm hoping to take pics.

3-D movies can make me dizzy, and i agree that people are not my enemies, our common problems are our enemies and it's time for all of us to work together to solve those problems.

Hope you have many, many happy returns of the day!

The moon was gorgeous last night - hopefully even better tonight!
As a Canadian watching from the outside, I hope the US can pull together somehow. It's been a tough week for sure!!

Happy belated birthday! Sounds like a great time, minus the dizziness. And I completely agree about the post-election madness. I was promised the verbal diarrhea would stop. Instead, it's worse than ever. How about we work together now and make the best of what we've got?

My hourly rate's certainly not much right now, haha! Loved your words about voters. The awful attacks that have been going on need to stop. Here I was stupid enough to think things would calm down after the election. Your birthday sounds amazing! Enjoy your trip with your husband. I recently had a trip to Savannah with just my husband, and it was amazing. We chose not to meet up with acquaintances who live out there, and to just take each day as it came.

My hourly rate as a writer? Oh, I don't really want to think about that, but I probably should.
Thank you for your words on voters. I agree!!!
And, Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday and Vacation!!! Enjoy!
BTW - it rained here so no supermoon for me.

It sounds like you had a wonderful birthday. (And here's some cheese to help celebrate, late.) My kids were way excited for the super moon, and it's big, but it usually looks big from Florida. I wish the media would just take a break. In fact, I wish they'd shut up and let the country heal. But no. *sigh*

I hope you have a fabulous time out of town!

Hope you had a fabulous birthday! I didn't get to see the supermoon - it was raining and cloudy as per usual for England! I completely agree with your message about the election - it applies here with the whole brexit debate too. Have a wonderful weekend
