10 Things on my List

I made a list. If you missed Monday's What Works online marketing symposium, you missed the chance to make your own list. But you can still check out all the wonderful, helpful posts by following the links here. So what did I jot down as things I want to investigate further and perhaps use to help me with promotion.

#1. I'm going check out the Amazon Paperback giveaway program that I have never heard of before.
#2. I'm going to some of my friends about doing a group giveaway instead of going solo on it.
#3. I'm going to take advantage of the Goodreads Author's programs.
#4. I have a short list of review sites I wasn't aware of and will check out.
#5. I'm going to experiment with changing and updating tags for my books on Amazon.
#6. I can't decide about Facebook ads. There was so much conflicting experience on the helpfulness of those.
#7. I found a few new blogs to follow, made some connections on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
#8. I have to think about using Wattpad.
#9. I'm going to 'use' my online friends more to help me promote my work.
#10. I'm going to do more reviews for my friends' books.

I have much more detail written on my cute little notepad, enough to keep my allotted marketing time filled for the next month. I hope the symposium was a beneficial for others as it was for me.
Let me thank this fine foursome for putting it all together. I hope they do it again next year.

Did you participate? What was one thing you learned? How does my list look?

Your list looks great. Just be wary of FB ads. I've yet to come across a single author who found them beneficial.

Good list. I tried out Wattpad, found it quite time intensive. Feels like a lot of people on stage and not so many in the audience.

Some interesting ideas to explore. I have some new things I want to try as well.

I've learned a ton just by reading a bunch of these posts -it was a GREAT idea, and I'm really grateful. Thanks for the to-do list!

You've got a great list there. I learned some new things, too.

Good list, Susan! I enjoy being over on Goodreads, even though I'm probably not using it to its full advantage. I get the biggest kick out of seeing my book over there, seeing people mark it as To Read, etc. How that translates to marketing and sales, I don't know, but it's fun for me. :)

Sounds like you've learned a lot of good things! I'm definitely going to take advantage of the Goodreads Giveaway program.

I feel like a real dork, but I don't even know what Wattpad is.

I think your list is a good one. I read several people saying that many of those things worked well for them!

What one thing on that list are you looking forward to the most?

And then, the least?

I've been leery because I've heard the same thing, Donna.
Mooderina, I wondered that about Wattpad.
Thank you, Alex, for organizing this.
Liz, I hope you can fit some stuff in besides all that research.
Glad you did too, Shelly.
More goodreads for all of us, Madeline and Sherry.
Robin, I only recently learned about Wattpad.
Oh, Ivy, I'd rather just write than do any of them.

I heard a few things here and there I never thought much about before, I should probably take advantage of goodreads a bit more too

Excellent list. I've been taking notes in a notebook. I realize there is so much I don't have a clue about!

Sounds like you learned a lot. I better go check out those links! With all the snow days, I've been submerged in Urchins and Urchins' goings ons.

I would be wary of FB ads as well. Some people install ad blocker software. I myself never pay attention to them.
I had no luck with Goodreads ads either, but that may not be the case with other authors.

Hi Susan,
All good things to put on your to-do list. I've found that simply boosting FB posts works really well.

Hahahahahahha. You are great. Excellent answer.

Fantastic list! I definitely want to do more group giveaways. I'm also trying to put up more reviews on my blog this year. I've changed the tags and blurbs on Amazon for my books with no effect, but I've heard others have had success.

I wasn't online on Monday but luckily I can go back and gather up all the great tips and make my own list.

I did not participate but I did go around take notes from everyone I visited. There was a lot of great advice. This was a super idea.

Great list! I'm going to get myself up to date with writing press releases, and I'm still on the fence about Wattpad. I mean, I'm there, but it's a huge time commitment to get attention. Hm.

That's a great list! I need to get together with others on a blog tour as well. I think it really helps.

I'm sorry I didn't get by on Monday, but I did read your post. I haven't had as much help from facebook, but I have found Storyfinds - another online site - to be a helpful place for a book page. I haven't paid for any of their services (yet), but the free page seemed to boost sales for a day or two after it went live and I tweeted about it.

Best wishes with all your marketing and writing!

I'm bad at lists, but this looks like a good one!

Right now, I'm trying to visit my followers. Hi, follower! :)
